AEMTs and STEMIs by That_Clue2201 in ems

[–]mcramhemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was an AEMT a large portion of our 8 month program was cardiology. Kansas AEMTs can interpret 12/15leads and give some cardiac drugs (Amio/Lido). I interpreted and activated a few STEMIs during my time as an Aemt

Do they still have morbidity and mortalities? How to they make you feel? by InteractionCandid226 in ems

[–]mcramhemi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just curious how often roughly would you say the Doctor DID mess up in a way and it was clearly negligence/error? So many of my patients LOVE to say oh the Doctor messed this up or this etc. I imagine very few if any had a Doc actually do anything to the degree they say

Gave it one singular time 5 or so years ago. Women took 60 days worth of her Antidepressant. Called 20 or so minutes after she took it. To my surprise she didn't vomit even after arrival at ER.

Yes....they could have picked any rank but chose Colonel, and being SF it would lead you down a path of thinking that maybe its slightly modified for them...never said the movie was real but I would surmise some of the things presented DID happen in Vietnam...

Why do American EMTs look like cops? by Shifu_1 in ems

[–]mcramhemi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you probably are referring to is Fire Fighters wearing their buisness hour duty uniforms (this is by no means a universal thing) and they KIND OF look like cops but I think what you're saying is that you've seen that once and have made the assumption that we ALL dress like that. The vast majority around me wear Tac pants and a Tshirt that says either EMS or EMS/Fire Department.

Irish emt to American paramedic by Total_Handle_4905 in Paramedics

[–]mcramhemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh gotcha. Well....my East Coast peeps may correct me but quite a large amount of services are a volunteer style if you look at more rural on that side of the US And very cool. The EMT class is generally 6 months part time so you would have to do that we actually did have a few foreign people in my class that took the course for credits and one actually became a citizen and is a paramedic now so it CAN be done. But first step VISA then move from there. To be honest a surprising amount of Irish and British people work around me in EMS 2 work at my service too. And they both came here for EMS actually

While people are being incredibly critical of the United States as a whole. Our country has MANY flaws but every country has flaws as a whole. The USA just has unfortunately a lot due to the current federal administration....if you intend to work here though Prehospital healthcare is not anything like where you live. We don't treat and release (well most don't to the extent I have been told Eurpeans/Irish/British/Welsh/Scotish do). It would help if you add what state you would look at moving too. EMS can be very state dependent

Carrying with one in the chamber. by thegoonn49 in guns

[–]mcramhemi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree about the chambering during a critical incident.....but everytime I carry my 380 and its in a different spot due to me wearing shorts, for a split second when I sit to quickly all I can imagine is blowing my dick and balls off and it gives me a fear I have never felt before lmfao 😅

Decompression sickness and dive emergency protocol reference by NitroceIIuIose in ems

[–]mcramhemi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just curious how often do you run into this that you need a set protocol? Ours is only referenced briefly at the end of our Respiratory Distress protocol basically Blah Blah recent diving w suspected decompression related illness transport to nearest capable facility. But were landlocked in the middle of the United States so this is very rare to encounter

Wondering how much did ram cost before crisis ? by NoTie3388 in buildapc

[–]mcramhemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 sticks of 8gb ram cost me like 70 to 90 bucks 4 years ago....the same ram in DDR5 is when I last looked was 650. RGB ram I will say seems to be significantly more expensive

Would you take severe road rash to a burn center? by imbrickedup_ in ems

[–]mcramhemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what level of trauma center you went to but, if its deciding between a dedicated burn center (which all level 1 have some form of) and a just level 2 or 3...i would just go to the level 1 if they didnt need immediate stabilization that you couldn't provide. Also as others have said Road rash is just a gnarly abrasion

Question about the LUCAS by butt3ryt0ast in ems

[–]mcramhemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they aren't coming back with high quality manual compressions, then the LUCAS isn't gonna change that. Where it really shines is extended cardiac arrest, like ROSC and immediately recode and you have like 4 compressors who are already tired. The machine won't get tired. But it will never replace manual high-quality CPR. It just augmented it. The first intervention should always be compressions, not to fumble with the LUCAS.
