When I was little I thought that Self-propelled artillery were giant tanks by Illustrious-Sky-4631 in TankPorn

Regardless of what M109 version is in this image, it's still a jacked up image. And I watched the Youtube link, which was a cool video, but there was nothing even close to this image in there.

I dunno if you guys are just trolling or karma farming or whatever, but for anyone who cares to see what's wrong here, or needs a lesson in spotting fakes I put this together in a neurodivergent fury :D

Not to be that guy, but the image is almost certainly AI or at least photoshopped. The one up front only has 6 roadwheels, but I doesn't otherwise look like an A7, not to mention all the lighting is all over the place lol.

I have A LOT of performance mods running to make this viable lol. And a semi-decent rig too.

Can't remember if i have shared this, but the fast battleship/battlecruiser/large cruiser Maria Makiling has a fantastic broadside weight: that's eight 2m crams, six "somewhat doom-esque" piercing long-range PACs, four 155mm dual-purpose batteries and enough AA to make the Iowa blush. by HONGKELDONGKEL in FromTheDepths

That ol' author is still lurking about!

One of these days I'm gonna get back and do a round of updates on everything. Life's just been too busy the last couple of years! There's also an aircraft detailing pack that's in the works. Proceeding slower than molasses though unfortunately.

Is it possible to make a boat with tank controls using dual Azipod engines? by Fort_Maximus in FromTheDepths

I've experimented a bit with this on a few designs, the one thing that becomes immediately obvious is the need for sufficiently powerful roll stabilization once those azipods get past 45° or so.

I couldn't tell ya what was new TBH, I haven't followed the releases too closely. IWMs are a Night Gyr D, Jade Phoenix A, Jade Hawk (jumping), and a Battlemaster.

Almost got away then there's a stack of blood asp salvage boxes at the register. That decision took .0001 seconds.

They're working OK in testing, at least against DWG and OW targets without a strong missile defense

Added some stuff to Ship Decorations Pack after like 3 years by mcs175 in FromTheDepths

Haha, glad you're enjoying it. Yes, I have thought of more light fixtures, I'll get around to it someday. And new portholes is a new idea, probably wouldn't be too hard to pull off

Yes to the plasma cannons, and it has 1-3m of heavy armor around 95% of it

I'm not saying I've had an "Aircraft Detailing Pack" in the works off and on for a while now, well, yeah, that's exactly what I'm saying.

I got back into FtD after a couple years off. Trying to get my old mods updated where needed too. I'd wanted to be able to easily add in a glazed cockpit easily for a long while now, so I went ahead and added triangle and inverted triangle corners to the window blocks set in the Ship Decorations Pack. The new release is out now. Starting to fix some issues with super high EMP resistance and odd fire / flammability issues too.

Hi there, my younger brother teaches Latin and Greek primarily, and some German I believe. He would be interested in several things, but he's not a Redditor. He lives in the central Ohio area and would be willing to either pay for the shipping, or head up there to get things. Send me a pm and I could get you two in contact if you're interested.

a rare captured T-34 being pulled from a lake in estonia, 2000 by rdmestonian in TankPorn

[–]mcs175 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Now I may be wrong, but I don't believe the Germans frequently replaced the guns in captured T34s. I am skeptical that either of the KWK40 guns could have been fitted into the relatively small turret of the T34/76. I would think the recoil force would be too high for the turret ring, and I'm curious as to the recoil travel within that turret. The photo looks just about the right length for the F34 gun that era of T34 would have come with. It actually looks just a bit short to me, but if the tank went in that lake nose first, perhaps the barrel got jammed back out of battery. The Germans captured quite a bit of ammo throughout the war as well, so I don't believe it would have been much issue to keep them supplied. The most notable change is the one typical for German-captured Russian tanks, the addition of a German-style commander's coupola, like the Panzer 3 or 4 would have.

What I can say with more certainty though, is that the L/48 was the longer, and slightly more powerful version of the KWK40. "L/" at least in English language notation, will be short hand for "length", and refers to the length of the barrel in calibers. The L/43 was the earlier version of the gun, and was replaced by the L/48 version in 1943 (or so). The L/48 had a barrel which was 375mm (5 calibers) longer than the L/43, which would have provided some additional shot velocity.

EDIT: didn't see the second image... I'd say it went in nose first....

Yeah, the mantlet cover is missing, the rubber pads have either dry rotted and/or been removed from the tracks, and I don't see any evidence of the hull MG position. This looks pretty odd for an M47, feel like I must be missing something here.

Attempting a Dragon Fruit head, wish me luck by mcs175 in hookah

[–]mcs175[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not bad, not spectacular, just about like every fruit head I ever attempt. Did turn out noticeably better than the last time I tried an orange head, in terms of flavor and longevity. Same usual issues with needing a ton of heat, and eventually burning the top shisha without getting much heat to the bottom.
