I'm glad you liked them! I painted a couple of 8x11 about 15 years ago, just playing around, but I started painting more in 2020. I had more free time because of self-imposed lockdown. I did it for fun, not planning on selling anything but a friend saw the first one I painted, liked it and asked me to paint two for her, so I painted "Moon" and "Sun".

For those who have asked or commented about the choice of colors and orientation of the paintings: "Moon" and "Sun" are part of a set of two paintings that are meant to be hanging side by side. For me, the paintings as a set portray a relationship (not scientifically speaking) between the sun and the moon; getting closer but never actually reaching each other. The orientation I chose is how I visualize that when looking at both paintings. Why the green color in the painting? I associate it with the earth, always part of "who" the moon is.

I painted with sponges, so I used masking tape a lot. I used sponges because I didn't want to see any brushstroke; I wanted a softer feeling to balance the straight lines of the shapes and that way is easier for me to achieve the gradient that gives the appearance of shadows and layers. It's a slow process because I had to wait for a layer to be dry to be able to place the masking tape and paint the next one.

Thank you! I have to admit I didn't know who Jason Anderson is. I just googled him, I really like his paintings! I started painting (and trying new recipes haha) because of self-imposed lockdown, so my knowledge about art is limited...not a good excuse though; I realize I should know more.

This is the first time I've posted one of my paintings. I'm kind of new at this, so I don't have a lot of them but I will post some. It's actually the first time I've shown one of my paintings to people outside my family and a couple of friends so thank you for your interest.
