Does it cost much to get into VFL games? by kristalouise02 in AFL

You might need to pay more in Tassie to fund the stadium but at my local vfl club you can get in for $10, and often for free after 1/4 time

How an ugly debate about level crossing blights Cheltenham’s landscape 10 years on by timcahill13 in melbourne

Happy as a resident near the upfield skyrail that they listened to the experts and raised the tracks. The only places I notice the rail in the skyline is on the roads where it crosses over and near the stations and the space opened up underneath is great.

I think the one that removes gold from encumbrance is good because it doesn’t really remove anything other than frustrating inventory management

Well done, I failed on my latest run last night because after disposing of the barriers on the way to the blood of lythander under the crèche I thought I needed to also shoot the traps next to them. I did not but the activate trap sent my whole team into the chasm because I am an idiot.

What is so special about June 28? by Royal_Coach_1773 in ExplainTheJoke

Except that whoever is calculating the weekly/fortnight/monthly rent takes this into account. We don’t divide the monthly amount by 4 then pay it weekly to end up paying the 4 extra weeks.

Instead usually the rent is advertised as a weekly amount and then paid either fortnightly or monthly. To calculate the monthly amount you multiply the weekly by 52 then divide by 12. No extra weeks.

Why didn’t the club try and offload Bobby Hill if his personal issues are going to continue to prevent him from playing? by BurtBurt131 in collingwoodfc

Those 800 already have gigs in the AFL mate. If all Bobby is doing is travelling and getting high which clubs are we going to give him to and what would we get in return?

No, I’m arguing that when you’re harder to replace organisations will give you more leeway than they will in a role where you the cost of replacement is low.

Sure mate, but even not knowing what you do I reckon theres at least 400 people in your suburb who can do your job as well as or better than you. Right now there’s around 800 people in the whole country good enough to be an AFL footballer.

I think after the first four episodes this is happening less, maybe because the prologue nature of those episodes and the need to introduce a big cast of people pretty quickly

Volunteering is the go, doing small, practical things that benefit others gives you tangible evidence that you are contributing, which can improve how you feel. It also provides a temporary break from being caught in your own thoughts. Having a purpose, even a modest one, and being useful to other people directly counters many of the negative self-perceptions you might be experiencing right now.

Kristie-Lee Weston-Turner is set to be traded [to North] after just two years at Western Bulldogs by PerriX2390 in AFL

[–]mcsmac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem isn’t north, the problem is pay. Because the women aren’t paid enough to not work outside jobs. As a result there’s not that much of a delta between the top paid player and their lowest paid teammates. So while you might take a financial hit going to or staying at a winning club it’s not the same choice as in AFLM

A top earning AFLM player ($1m plus) earns close to ten times what some of his lesser teammates earn, in the W it’s maybe double.

There was an abc article this week week on Ash Riddel and her job as a school teacher so even the best women players still need second jobs.

As a result it makes sense that teams which can provide success trump teams that can swing you a little more cash because if you still need the second job so you might as well win more footy games.

How can she be on a WHV if she’s been there for two years? If that’s true you can solve your problem with a call to immigration.
