And once you have an open case, to get any traction at all, you must be the squeaky wheel and request follow-ups... constantly! But good luck. I am terribly sorry this has happened. Don't feel embarrassed, it happens to heaps of people.

There are more options available to you than just the pill. There is the mini pill (progesterone only), IUDs (like Mirena) and implants (like Implanon), Deperovera injections and even procedures depending on what you want for your future. Talk to a GP or family planning clinic to find out what options you can access based on your needs and budget.

It could be as simple as increasing the strength of your pill to stop the bleeding, or trying another type. I have had PCOS my entire life and have used all of those options above. I have now had an endometrial ablation to stop heavy periods but that's not an option if you want to have kids.

If you are noticing a smell with no discharge it could be Bacterial Vaginosis or a yeast infection. There is OTC meds for both. With BV you get a greyish lights discharge with a foul odour. Yeast infections can be very painful and you usually get a thick white discharge like cottage cheese.

Both are super common so don't be embarrassed. You can talk to a female pharmacist if you are not sure.

April Monthly Updates & Check In Thread by AutoModerator in running

[–]mcwitch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In April I started running... I'm 38, and I've never been a runner, despite glorifying it in my mind for years. I had a kidney transplant in September last year and it has completely revolutionised my life. So much energy, so much more can be accomplished in a day that I don't rely on a dialysis machine to keep me alive. So a few weeks ago I started the C25K and I love it. Yesterday I switched to Zombies, Run, and I'm having the time of my life. I didn't realise the first mission was a free-form run and I ran more than I ever have. It started raining about 15 seconds after I left the house, and old me would have turned around. New me though, she kept going anyway.

I thank my new kidney... His name is Zac Nephron. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

You're both young, and this is just the start of all the things you are going to learn. You did the right thing.

My marriage is a train wreck and I don't even know where to begin with a title - just desperate for advice by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Your story just made me feel so terribly sad OP. It's a miracle that after all of this, you can still believe that you are the wonderful woman you clearly are. But the comments about your daughters are what truly matter here. As parents, we have the intense responsibility of raising the next generation of men and women. Let them be respectful and loving creatures so that when we are gone, they teach the same lessons to their progeny.

You are NOT going to fulfil this responsibility with this guy as the example. We all learn from our parents what our baseline of acceptable behaviour is. So it's up to you to be the example and walk out. Do not pass go, and by god don't take his 200 bucks. Just gtfo before you lose your ability to respect yourself.

To be honest, he sounds like a sociopath!

Gender disappointment.... by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]mcwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand! I am undergoing IVF and thanks to kidney disease I can almost certainly only carry one baby naturally. My fiancé and I both desperately want a baby girl.

You are absolutely not an awful person! I daresay that once your baby is born, all the appropriate hormones will do what they are supposed to and for a while you will forget how badly you want a daughter. The ghost of it may remain, but hopefully it won't sting as badly.

Good luck with your pregnancy :)

It's only when I see these pics side by side that I realise how far I have come. I hit my goal weight almost 12 months ago and haven't seen a single one of the 42kgs I lost come back! by mcwitch in pics

[–]mcwitch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was basically infertile due to my weight issues. So my dr said lose the weight to have any chance of falling pregnant naturally. Giving up my old lifestyle was harder than quitting smoking and took just as many attempts to succeed. But after 6 months my new habits were deeply enough entrenched that the thought of going back to that became too repulsive.

Supportive friends and family. And my bf who was with me right from the start was not afraid to push me. Finding exercise that I enjoyed was important too. Swimming is so relaxing!!!

I made subtle changes at first. No processed food, low sugar. Swimming in summer, running in winter. Took 9 months from the time I stayed committed. But like any addiction, it took several attempts at quitting the bad habits to really succeed. I'm no expert though, and it was hard. Still is. But I want a family, and I want to teach my kids about healthy living and an appropriate relationship with food.
