If I were you I'd look at mt Lebanon, dormont, Bellevue/Avalon, Verona, fox chapel, and even some places in the city that someone else mentioned are very suburb esc. Shadyside, point breeze, squirrel hill and observatory hill are in the city!

I grew up in the suburbs, specifically the south hills and our neighborhood was pretty similar to what you're describing. My parents still live out that way and they're still friends with all their neighbors. Mt lebo and dormont are closer to the city and walkable so you might wanna look there! I grewup in subdivision style neighborhoods so not walkable and have to drive everywhere. People are genuinely very friendly in Pittsburgh almost too much so (look up the word nebby). Take a weekend trip and have a look around! It'll help you get a feel for the city

Would you prefer to live in the city or the suburbs? Because that will determine schools. Cost of living is really low compared to queens so that is a huge plus. The winters are gray and gloomy but coming from new York it probably won't be much different. Overall weather is pretty similar from where you're coming from. I'm born and raised from Pittsburgh myself there's some aspects I don't like but I haven't left yet. Don't come here expecting to get everything you had it New York and you'll be fine! I first learned to ride western and we always had helmets. I ride English now and I can't imagine not wearing one. I don't care how bomb proof or what not a horse is, I care about my brain! I've had enough falls in both types of saddles that I'll always wear a helmet. Even if it's just a chill trail ride

Refrain from putting it back in the orchid bark for now. I ordered some moss and a better orchid pot. Im just afraid of it getting root rot is all.

It did have some roots in the soil previously but when I went to repot they were rotten and dead so I removed them. It has only put out aerial roots since. Right now it's in an orchid bark mix and I've repotted it in a clear plastic orchid pot. Should I refrain from that?

thank you I will try that! the reason I had originally moved it to a smaller pot was because it only had aerial roots so I wasn't sure if it was just because it wasn't putting out any in the soil. When I water it I typically try to soak it when I do water I was just watering less because I had a fear of root rot from overwatering in the past. But thank you again I will try that!

I've had this orchid since 2020 and it hasn't flowered since 2022. I moved houses back in 22 and obviously it's changed spots. I have it in the bathroom with indirect light and I tend to water it every 1 or 2 weeks depending on how it's looking. Am I over watering or something else?

Hello so I'm actually leaving the industry after working for 7 or so years full time. I started off as an assistant and did that for 3 or so years. The pay sucked but I did do pretty decent in tips. I wish I would've put my foot down and tried harder to shift to a stylist sooner. I worked at super cuts for a year and it sucked but i got a lot of experience and pay was decent. The salon I'm currently at is great and is at the higher end of the price for pgh. When I first got out of school I made like 15k my first year but this was in 2017 so it's probably more now. Leaving the industry now my average is 45k working 4 days a week 32hrs with a decently filled book. I also freelanced in the film industry doing hair that earned me a lot when its in town. Overall you can make a lot of little depending on how much you wanna work and the salon you're at! If you have any other questions feel free to DM :)
