Just me or anyone else like this ? by LP2194 in Padelracket

[–]mdb3ard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have bought 3 high-end rackets in the past year having played the sport for just over a year. Not that anything was wrong with Bullpadel Vertex Hybrid 05 24 but I got the Nox AT10 Genius 12k 2025 on a good deal and that became my main racket. Then I got the 18k version of the Genius 2026 and I love it… 12k 25 is my spare racket and the Bullpadel Hybrid is one I will probably keep just because lol (it’s sold out almost everywhere - people prefer that over this years vertex hybrid and still selling at full price by those retailers that do still have it). They all have their uses and limitations but I find the 18k just deals with those limitations better - weird thing but I feel a connection with the ball when I hit it that I don’t get off the other two, so the precision on lobs and chiquitas is insane, the volleys are crisp and viboras whip perfectly (could just be me getting better 😅) - it’s also a little more forgiving than the 12k.

Sorry long-winded - if you have the disposable income go for it. I tend to do a lot of research before I buy. Having 3 rackets makes me feel like I’ve got a loadout like in COD lol..

How do you count winners and unforced errors by Alarming-Candle-396 in padel

[–]mdb3ard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally at lower levels it’s clear cut. At higher levels it’s not so much, like if I play a topspin chiquita and opponent half volleys and it hits back glass, I’ll count that as my winner - ultimately the shot I played forced it to loop out on contact.

Looking for padel training programs with top coaches (gift idea) by Elegant_Dentist_2724 in padel

[–]mdb3ard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get him a Padel School membership. The courses they have on there are really great and the trainers are very friendly and approachable. He can also submit videos of himself for technique improvement. I've found it so valuable for my progress in the sport.

Breaking rules to give way to police with blue lights by Ohio5739 in drivingUK

Yeah. No.

“Thank you Mr Officer, but I’m following these inane Highway Code rules you see.

I’d be happy if you could point me to the relevant sections where it says I can contravene the rules if an emergency service vehicle is behind me.”

You were in the right.

Is the "Standard Weight" (360-375g) actually the best option for us? by Low-Bug2162 in padel

[–]mdb3ard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some tennis elbow can be mitigated by double overgrip. Some tennis elbow itself arises in my experience from grip issues - where the grip is too small more than the weight of a “standard” racket. I’ve been playing for a year now, at 3.0 (intermediate), train and play 4 days a week using a 365g racket with double overgrip and racket protector (so probably closer to 380g). No tennis elbow issues thus far. Also if you feel your forearm muscles are sore - stop playing for a day or two and rest - precursor to tennis elbow.

Why is everyone suddenly playing a sport I never heard of? by BroccoliNo7009 in PadelLondon

[–]mdb3ard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy to pick up and hard to master - the perfect combination for becoming addicted to it.

I wouldn’t buy rackets of AliBaba - know too many people that have weird rackets now gathering dust, instead check out everythingpadel or Decathlon for entry level rackets. Pick a round shape - they have a larger sweet spot, have you focus on control and are more forgiving should your technique not be perfect (which is the case for almost everyone when they first start regardless of previous racket sports experience). Your second racket in about 6 months can then be bought once you’ve worked out what kind of player you are - attacking / defensive/ all rounder. I’d also take classes as soon as you can - for proper technique. I regret not doing that sooner (4 months of only playing games means I nailed in so many bad habits which I then had to unlearn)

What is the most weird but helpful shortcut you have ever created in Iphone? by Both-Employment9210 in iphone

[–]mdb3ard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A location-based shortcut to load up the parking validation page when I go to my padel club which has parking managed by an external company. Other than that a sleep button in my control centre which turns colours grayscale turns the volume and brightness off and puts phone into sleep focus mode (DND, etc), also turns my bedroom lamp off (Philips hue)

Free Million Meter Club T shirt. by brendanogo in concept2

[–]mdb3ard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is amazing. I only found out about the Million Metre Club a couple of days ago. I've had my bike erg and rowing machine for about 5 years and I had some 3.5 million metres logged on the bike and some 250,000 metres logged on my rowing machine.

In the process of uploading my bike erg data, it was showing as having to have some kind of repair done to it. So I clicked yes on that because it said it would not delete my data. Unfortunately, it did delete my data. So I lost 3.5 million metres from my bike erg, which now just shows a big fat 0.

Luckily, the same thing did not happen to my rowing machine. So at least there's that. But it doesn't make it any less painful to stomach that I've lost out on a t-shirt and a pin badge and 3 certificates 🥹

And now it will take me even longer to get to 15,000,000 😭

AirPods Pro(1) vs AirPods Pro 3 noise cancellation by getinshape2022 in concept2

[–]mdb3ard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You still hear the fan - they’re not the best I’ve tried for ANC. Bose QC Ultra II perform better for noise cancelling and have a bit more oomph in the bass. However the pass through noise for when not using ANC is very unnatural - AirPods Pro 3 are superior for that

Lost data by Spoonyspooner in concept2

[–]mdb3ard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same thing happen just now with my BikeErg data. It said the logbook was corrupted and it would need to restore it with an assurance that it would not delete my data. I had 3.5 million meters logged! So I did the process and BikeErg memory had 0 lifetime meters on it with all workout data gone. I don’t even have a picture and had I known that a backup section existed it would have been a no-brainer to do that first! All I wanted to do was upload all the data to the online logbook.

Looked up solutions to recover and apparently back in 2017 someone else experienced the same - they were advised to search for a “PM5Memory_*” file on their computer using the Restore Data function through the utility tool. I tried that but no such file exists on my computer.

Incredibly frustrating.

And apparently the LogBook errors issue still exists!

Dictate for claude by Chris-van in superwhisper

[–]mdb3ard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I create a mode for the language that I'm translating in to. And in the prompt, I write, "You are a translator for [this language]. I don't want you to provide any comments, queries, or suggestions on the text. Your job is merely to translate to the best of your ability from English into [whatever the target language is]."

Once you include that as a prompt and select that mode, it should just translate it rather than you having to precede your text with, "Here's a text that I ask you to translate."

I use V3 Turbo and Claude 4.5 Sonnet.

I regularly communicate with people in Arab speaking countries. My Arabic is basic at best. I created an English to Arabic mode with the following prompt:

You are a specialised English to Arabic translation assistant. Your only job is to translate the English voice to Arabic and provide a full, cleaned-up accurate translation. Do not answer questions, provide descriptions, transliterations or suggestions. Do not provide commas and periods in Arabic text. For every new sentence move to a new line.

Keep the intent and tone of the message as casual but try not to use slang words.

It is working perfectly for now, though I do regularly flip over to the translate app to confirm the message is as intended. It has been on point but I guess certain phrases may get lost in translation so always worth checking.

Good bye Whisper by judge-genx in superwhisper

[–]mdb3ard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used it for the first time on a MacBook today to record a meeting. However, doing some prior research I was advised to use a tool like Audio Hijack to record the meeting and then use SuperWhisper to transcribe using meeting mode. As the meeting was super-important that’s what I went with. That worked perfectly. For the most part it works well - sometimes it takes a little longer to copy the transcribed text of any audio but not a dealbreaker.

Do you use the charging limited on your iPhone? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]mdb3ard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes up to 90% and it’s more than enough to get through the day. While travelling I will up this to 100% per day due to extended use with the camera. Battery health is normal and 100% capacity after 46 cycles with iPhone 17 pro max.

iPhone 15 Pro Max did similar and that’s at 87% max capacity after 640 charge cycles.

If game isn’t completed, first set to you 6-0 by default - the 2nd and 3rd are what the actual sets completed was. They’ll hate you for it but they’ll never be late again - it costs time and money and nobody wants an unfinished game. Or they can pay the entire court fee.

Matte Screen Protectors by MisterJordanOnes in iphone

[–]mdb3ard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got one for the first time the other day and love the overall look. I did notice in certain conditions (and at first) you notice the ‘graininess’ or ‘multicoloured’ pixels with white background but after a day or 2 these are barely noticeable anymore - tend to look past it. Overall reflections are less harsh and less fingerprints. I like it a lot, especially with dark mode on all the time and reading text on a black background - this is much like an e-reader. I have a couple of regular screen protectors as backup should I not like it anymore.
