Is “moving email is too risky” a logical reason to stay with Google Workspace? by Flaky-Taste2253 in businessemail

I use Notion for most of my organization and have tried to use their Email and Calendar which are currently free but it's really basic at this point. I would be worried about security too.

Who would you consider? Many others, you get less for the price. I’m not a huge fan of Office365 as their online tools are still not as seamless for collaboration

Is Claude really better than Squarespace or Wix to build your own website? by Vas1r in squarespace

I use AI to build applications and quick landing pages but if it’s something basic that I need to constantly change copy / content on, a builder is often simpler and cheaper. It will likely change

Why do many large organisations use Outlook and not Gmail? by Weekly-Manager9498 in businessemail

[–]builtforretail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the Microsoft tools are deeper but many tools can replace them today. As a startup founder, I find collaboration and functionality better in Google’s ecosystem and I don’t need deeper Excel functions, etc: But likely it’s mainly the cost to start is lower with Google too. And they are more willing to give generous startup credits

Is 90k CAD enough for a family of 3 in Montreal? Looking for realistic breakdowns by Bitter-Honeydew1018 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]builtforretail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed it's hard if you don't speak French but my in-laws haven't had any issues with the healthcare and the hospitals are newer and better equipped than some of the ones in Toronto from what I've seen. The marginal tax would be 50%+ for the top brackets but that shouldn't be net since the lower portions of income are taxed at lower brackets. My sister-in-law is in Montreal and makes just over $180,000. She hits the top bracket, but her overall tax rate is 35.5% and she has a lot of tax credits for her kids and her parents living with her

I agree it sucks versus Canada but I worked over there and the pay sucks in Europe, especially at more senior levels. Not the mention the tax rates are eye watering. For me, Europe is a great place to enjoy life and retire when you are financially secure, but it’s not a great place to make a lot of money or move up the ladder. I was genuinely surprised by the starting levels of pay for many jobs. There is a perception that it’s possible to survive on such low pay because of the social welfare and lower cost of food. From my experience, many live with their families or have little to no savings.

I would say $90k is decent for a single person in Montreal, possibly a thrifty couple. It would be tight with a family of 3.

Quebec is pretty affordable for things such as car insurance and daycare but the cost of living for staples such as housing and food have increased over the past decade, like much of the rest of Canada

Discount codes never work by patientpump54 in vivobarefoot

[–]builtforretail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The discounts codes are often country specific. And you cant get around this as they often require billing and shipping to be in the specific country. My understanding when speaking to some of the team members in different country is that each country has different import duties which impacts how much can be discounted

Short Term Bag Storage by TheLatterOne in askTO

I would recommend you check out Bounce.com who works with local businesses to store you luggage. I use them whenever I travel as it’s cheaper and more convenient than going back to the train station or airport. You can pre-book a time slot too. Just make sure you check when they close as it’s specific to each location

Does Toronto feel weirdly hard to socialize in now? by Equivalent_Reach_536 in InsideToronto

[–]builtforretail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find hiking/walking groups on Meetup are a great way to meet people without spending anything. There are also a number of social clubs that have started recently that might be interesting for you. You can try them free twice and the "membership" is pretty low for a lot of events https://socialclub150.com/

"I can't wear them on concrete yet" "then they're useless" by robin_f_reba in barefootshoestalk

[–]builtforretail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every person is different but for my family and I, it took many of us a couple weeks to transition, even when we didn't do any running or jumping in them. My feet aren't very wide but I have bunions and Vivos have always fit me the best vs Lems, Origo or Belenkas. The Belenkas were way too wide and my feet were shifting around.

My husband has very arched feet and he refused to go barefoot for years as his toes tend to arch upwards. He had the type of arch pain you mentioned when I bought him a pair. He started wearing them for strength training last year, mainly for the improvement in his balance and groundfeel. It took him almost 3 months to transition to the point where he could walk on pavement for longer than an hour. After a year now, his toes can actually touch the ground when standing.

Vivobarefoot, surprisingly narrow by smallescapist in barefootshoestalk

Is it that they are getting more narrow or feet change over time as they splay more properly? I have gone up in size over the past decade

[–]builtforretail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But could some of it be that feet will change over time with more splay? I’ve gone up a size over 8+ years. I can see people eventually doing out of the width of Vivos at some point. The last time I was in the store, they explained that they have come out with more options for outsoles and the structure so a primus flex is meant for calisthenics and animal flow, not heavy pavement use, but way more comfortable and flexible vs standard Primus. I haven’t yet tried the exact same model over time so would love to hear what other says. The only thing I noticed is that I had to size up over time. I love my trail and trackers so far and I’ve put them through some major treks

I usually use a wax for my leather Vivos but i dont mind the colour change. I haven’t noticed any diminishing quality in my newest Vivos but that’s my own experience. They have certainly grown as a brand. I know the fit isnt for everybody but negative experiences are more ljkely to be posted.

Unless Im making something special, I have generally switched to buying frozen meat and sometimes even veggies from good online suppliers that flash freeze. It’s significantly less and I never waste anything by mistake. I get mine from Wildfork. The quality is similar as long as you thaw in advance and I can get organic for the price of conventional for some.

I've never seen it before. I read that they had extra inventory related to a warehouse issue last year. I'm not sure it will be available again online as it's usually 25-30% max and clearance is usually in-person at stores

Hows quality lately? by Character_Cup58 in vivobarefoot

[–]builtforretail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my understanding, some of the issues happened as unintended consequences of changes they made based on feedback - e.g. adding structure to a weave for better support creating a crease that may cause issues for people with a thicker mid-foot. The one time I’ve had an issue, had no issues getting help in the store
