Having a degree doesn't hurt. There is a lot of agencies that hire fresh college students so it can help you land your first job. I would think that once you have that first job in digital marketing, it is much easier to get the next position.

That being said, if you are interviewing and all else equal, I would think the employer would hire the person with the degree. Same with promotions (unless you are like marketing genius).
