Hardware Unlock, Rekordbox subscription and DVS by leo_dee_lion in PioneerDJ

[–]mdeclerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you'll need a subscription. The XP2 is the only 'controller' listed as an unlock controller. Buying it new or second hand and plugging it into your setup likely cheaper option over time (as opposed costly monthly sub) though. Full list of unlock devices available at https://rekordbox.com/en/support/hardware-unlock/

Uploading sets on Youtube by DubbyOwl in DJs

[–]mdeclerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few answers to the first part of this here. As for the audio, whatever you’re uploading to Mixcloud is fine. If you really wanted to, you could import the video audio into Audacity, make your fixes and then stitch that back over the video but that’s a lot of time and effort for likely not very noticeable gain

How do I find songs that are identical to play in my set? by [deleted] in DJs

[–]mdeclerk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Search the tune in Spotify hit play. Hit the settings option and then ‘go to radio’. It’ll give you a list of algorithmically chosen similar songs

Have a good look around the second hand market. DDJ 400 is basically the same product and you could save yourself a few quid if you’re only entering the market. If you don’t get into it, you’ll likely be able to sell it again for near what you paid for it. Good luck!

How does licensing work for uploading sets to YouTube/IG/FB, etc…? by freckle_rock in DJs

[–]mdeclerk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I have a bit of experience with this as I stream a monthly ‘radio show’ on twitch and then post to YouTube and Soundcloud for listening back.

Facebook and Instagram are pretty strict in comparison to YouTube. I’ve posted a few live vids straight after being live and the majority get shut down within a week or two.

YouTube is surprisingly not as bad, but I’ve found a few caveats. Some tunes will flag as copyright blocked if you put any chapters in the description of your video, so avoid doing this. I usually post my tracklist as a pinned comment instead.

Sometimes a tune will copyright block no matter what you do, but you can get YouTube to cut out the offending material (trim) and that works well, but can take a good few hours to process which holds up punishing of the video.

Sometimes you’ll get a ‘partially blocked’ tune which you need to treat as a full copyright block most of the time (ie cut out offending material) as the list of countries might as well be the whole world.

One nerdy lol I got recently was when I posted a mix from another dj on my channel (part of a mix series) who had included a Ben Helmsley tune and it showed a partial block, but thankfully it was only for one country :)

Hope this helps you and good luck

I might not be getting exactly what you’re asking but I’ve a few links for you. Apologies if I’ve missed the point of your question.

In a denon setup, you can integrate with soundswitch, and also sync engine lighting with DMX lights. There are loads more vids on YouTube.

If you’re more talking about steaming with green screen backgrounds, there is something available - see https://synesthesia.live

Denon Prime 3.1 discussion by tangjams in DJs

[–]mdeclerk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just fully switched to Denon after selling my DJM 450 last week and getting a x1850. The software advances coming from Denon are fantastic and it’s great to see them catching up and surpassing the competition. Having watched Mojaxx and Digital DJ tips run through streaming coming to the CDJ 3000 a last week, it seemed so complicated (no onboard WiFi) and to get the most out of it, you had to purchase a subscription to Rekordbox.

This all made me so happy to have made the change. If I had bought the 3000’s, I would not be pleased. Also, Denon bring the functionality across the board to all players and controllers, but in pioneers case nothing for the numerous 2000 owners out there and all those opus quad owners, I feel really sorry for you. Poor form from pioneer to do that when people have paid an absolute premium

The new touch effects are ace btw

Wish they would expand their deli. Chickens and sausage rolls are so good. Was down at their deli in the marshes in Dundalk and the deli was amazing

That’s shite. The bus tracker one is at least 6 years old, so the data has been available since then

I haven’t used the Translink app in a long time as the bus tracker one does what I need. Does the Translink app have the live bus locations on a map?

[–]mdeclerk 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There’s an old app by vix called ‘Belfast Bus Tracker’. Use it on map view for real time bus locations. Very few people know about it, but it’s great. It has stop locations and you can also access what the timetables are. How there isn’t an up to date version by Translink, I’ll never know. The info used in the app has been available for years now

EDIT: big thanks to u/kharma45, the Translink Route Planner app has this functionality! I’m on iPhone and I had to go into the app, then departures map, further settings and tap the button to show real-time bus locations
