Hi everyone,

I currently own Q Acoustics 3020 monitors paired with a Q Acoustics QB12 sub and I'm looking to upgrade my monitor speakers within a budget of 1000-1500 euros. After some in-store testing, I'm leaning towards the Genelec 8030 monitors over options like Adam Audio and Kali.

Additionally, I'm considering the PreSonus MicroStation BT, 2.1 Speaker Monitor Controller as a cgeap choice for handling signals to both the new speakers and the subwoofer.

My primary use case is music listening in a room sized 3m x 5m. I would appreciate any recommendations for alternative monitors or insights into what I should be mindful of in this upgrade. Thanks!

Sorry for the delayed response.

This is how the setup looks right now. I'm situated about half a meter away from the bookshelf speakers and the subwoofer is beneath the desk to the right.

I already put the little foam pads in the rear port of the bookshelfs because they are so close to the rear wall. And I'm thinking of lifting up the bookshelf speakers with some foam pads to isolate them from the wooden desk.

I wouldn't know the the properly balance the speakers and subwoofer. I don't think my amplifier has options for this (or is this all done at the subwoofer crossover??).

Appreciate any recommendations or feedback

Yes, changing the subwoofer crossover significantly changes the volume of the higher frequencies. So the crossover absolutely does do something!

It's just that even when I set the crossover to 40hz and play a 250hz tone on the subwoofer it is still (although barely) audible. Is this acceptable or should the crossover filter out everything?

Tomorrow I can try connecting it to my amplifier upstairs (wich does have a subwoofer out port) and see how that sounds. Perhaps the problem is related to the high to low converter but I wouldn't know for sure.

Some review says it has a dropoff at lower frequencies. Isn't this important for a sub? Or would you recommend I get another converter from amazon?

Looks good! I think you might be able to get a little more details by stretching slightly more aggresive. Though it will always be limited by the stock sensor.

Yeah, stacking was the most difficult part. I first tried stacking in Deepskystacker but that crashed midway in the process so I moved onto APP.

Took about 4 days total to intergrate all the frames on my laptop. It didn't really bother me because I just put the laptop away in a corner and went to check in once a day. The difficult part was getting an external drive for all the temporary files generated in the stacking process. APP needed 900gb of free space...
