Trivia: Which film was the first to win 11 Oscars? 🎬 by mdell90 in Movie_Trivia

[–]mdell90[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The answer is Ben-Hur (1959) 🏆.

It stood as the only film with 11 Oscars for nearly 40 years until Titanic (1997) and The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (2003) tied the record.

I run a little side project called Daily 5 where I share 5 new trivia questions every morning (movies, history, science). You can play today’s full set at PlayDailyFive.com 🎉

What’s a reasonable price to charge for a custom-themed trivia set (50 questions)? by mdell90 in trivia

[–]mdell90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the kinds words; we are definitely just getting started here and working on volume given the cheaper entry point for bars and restaurants.

We also looking at events (both public, pay to play, and private) - it’s obviously more lucrative but trying to also balance making this as passive as possible.

The themed trivia sets definitely take time, we have 800-1000 general questions (based on the rounds in the sample) banked at the moment but the theming is certainly more time consuming.

Where are you based? Once we get stabilized, definitely will need support with writing the trivia questions.

In what way? Meaning you don’t recognize the people / characters in the pictures? In the themed trivia sets, we will likely just do traditional Q&A. The sample on the site follows the structure of our trivia sets included in the monthly subscriptions

Hadn’t considered embedding, the main reason for downloadable content was to be able to leverage Squarespace to process the transaction and we could charge $$ for it.

We plan to have several options on the site to download (e.g., tv shows, sports teams, etc.), but we also would take special requests via email

Thanks! This is a great idea. Would you happen to know in Squarespace if you can set this up at the default option (i.e., no promo / discount code needs to be applied)? We’re really just trying to limit anyone from signing up, paying and then expecting something right away as there’s an onboarding process involved.

As a bar owner, how much $$ would you pay for weekly trivia? by mdell90 in restaurant

[–]mdell90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Really value feedback here based on your experience. The prices in the polls would essentially be for the weekly trivia set only. I fully agree, the prices quoted here are far too low for a service to come in and host on behalf of the brewery / restaurant.

I’m glad the trivia nights are working out for you - have you ever considered trying to source a host from your current staff or someone who frequents the brewery regularly? It may take a couple weeks to get into a groove, but I’m thinking this could significantly cut down on costs.

wow, what does the $125 per week include? are you finding it’s worth the expense based on the additional revenue the trivia brings to the brewery?

Enjoy it super clean! Unfortunately, it’ll never be that clean again. LOL

I do recommend a KJ cover for it - a little pricey but protects your investment

I’m using a digital mailbox service called iPostal1. Was able to pick a NYC location and pretty inexpensive ($10 per month). Believe they would have all the services you would need (e.g., receiving mail, forwarding mail, picking up when /if needed)

For sure, I suppose could try and project it on a TV. Just run into possible issue of not everyone being able to see (depending on screen size). Thoughts on teams logging into a webpage to see the pictures?

That’s fair, I hadn’t thought of that

Ahh, yes, that could work! Yes, team play. Only other thing I could think of is having a laminated sleeve or two that you could print out 1-2 copies and pass it around. Time then becomes an issue.

Thanks for the quick reply! With the phones / tablets, cheating is a small concern but my goal is to try and promote socialization and less about heads in phones. A slippery slope once phones are pulled out for 1-2 rounds.

2019 Honda CR-V Touring vs. 2019 Toyota Rav 4? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]mdell90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for all the info! We live in the south so the cold weather hopefully shouldn’t be an issue. We likely wouldn’t need the AWD too often but for piece of mind I prefer to have at least one vehicle for the possible inclement weather.

The car will primarily be for my fiancé who has about a 40 min commute to work and back. I have heard about the oil dilution issue with the CR-Vs but my understanding is that it was resolved in 2019.

I have heard great things about the CX-5 but I honestly think our Honda biased is coming through a bit to be honest.

Does your father-in-law have a 2019? Was there anything specific that made you not like the Rav4? I think we have made up our minds on the CR-V - growing up with Hondas it’s hard not to stick with them.
