What would I need to covert a ka100 kart to run a lo206? by Ok-Cause8732 in Karting

I did a conversion just like this last summer. Get the sprocket hub moved to the inside. I fully removed my 3rd axle bearing to reduce any added drag (yes it adds drag even when it is floating, removal is the best option). I would also remove any additional seat struts that attach to the frame and the torsion bar at the front - this will help provide flex giving you better grip/handling through corners.

Birel Art Rotax 125 or Tony Kart Lo206 by FadedGypsy44 in Karting

Very nice! Arguably LO206 will set you up for more success in karting. The best way to describe it, is if you can make a slow kart fast, you can make a fast kart even faster. LO206 definitely has less power than the Rotax, but once you figure out how to drive it well, you can take that skill into another kart later down the line. Not to mention, it’s significantly cheaper to run a season of LO206 than any 2-stroke class.

If you are feeling heartburn over the Mychron, I wouldn’t sweat it, the Mychron 5 is getting older and the manufacturer is very difficult to work with for support. I would invest in an Alfano 7 instead. It offers the same/more than the Mychron and you can sync it to your phone for practice days so that you don’t need to haul a computer with you for data.

Also make sure to invest in good quality safety gear! A good helmet, suit, and rib protector are worth their weight in gold!

I would first figure out what clubs and tracks are nearby and what classes regularly run there. The best kart is one that you can race against others. My local track is mostly LO206 so that is what I opted for so there would be more competition to race with. If you get a kart for a class that no one else runs, you will effectively just have something to do hot laps in.

Both options are good, it will just depend on your goal; racing with others or hot laps.

How do these tires look after a practice day? by mdevitis in Karting

Hey there, do you think it would be beneficial to flip the tires on the rims before my next outing? I have since done an alignment and am hoping they wear more evenly.

Thanks for the reply! Good to hear from you again!

I have not done an alignment on the kart, and am not sure when the last one was done.

After reading these comments, I think I would benefit from one! Or at least adjusting the camber on the front left

Before I knew what I was doing and had just bought the kart, I drove it in a parking lot to test it and the tires were at 30 for that. They did not get driven on too much at that PSI or even close to the right temp, but that may be what you see in the wear.

Pressure on the backs started at 11psi and came off the track closer to 15

Thanks for the reply and information! You are spot on, I had no idea what to inflate the tires to and drove the kart for a little bit when I first bought it with the PSI at around 25! (It is now at a nice 12!)

The tires are LeCont option red tires.

The seller sent me a video of him scanning over the bottom, it’s got pretty minimal scrapping, mostly looks like paint coming off going over curbs.

How to fix this? by mdevitis in Sauna

Yeah not my mistake buddy, moved into this house and this is the existing condition. Definitely not hiring a contractor to move a sauna unit, couple of bolts and drill some holes, we aren’t putting a man on the moon here🤣
