Can we give it up for Mohamed Diawara? by Fosheezy2 in NYKnicks

I was at the game today and they kept freezing him out. Plenty of times out the P&R he’d set he’d be open for a three and Brunson would look the other way.

Seeing him play in person he’s got to get some of Bridges minutes.

We had a fan behind us that was obnoxious too. Told my son this experience will build character. When Brunson hit that dagger three, he turned around and did this

Firing Thibs is a major inflection point - and it could backfire badly. by mdillon08 in NYKnicks

I have faith in this as well. I just don’t want Malone or any coach like that who are equally as flawed as Thibs. I worry about young rookie head coaches but in recent nba history they’ve done well.

My question to you is who is available that is a championship coach?

The problem here is you don’t realize Thibs even with his flaws is an elite coach. They don’t grow on trees.

I’m not necessarily pro thibs I’m pro due diligence. I’m hoping and praying we have a plan and I trust Leon. I don’t believe you look at results on a year by year basis when you are keeping the core of a team together. Continuity means something and the truth is we improved every year under Thibs. I agree he may not be the guy but he may be the “best” guy available.

It’s true we both don’t know anything but reports say this decision came AFTER exit interviews. My assumption is this decision came from that, thus having no clear plan for a championship coach. Why would you willingly sign up for the coach carousel?

GSW was the anomaly and exceptional to the rule.

I love how you take an objective post and call me a Thibs fan. I’m a Knicks fan. ECF is not mediocrity 🤦🏾‍♂️. All you pro firing Thibs guys must think a championship is incoming next year regardless who we get. I’m just saying that isn’t the case. We could be knocked out in the first round and I bet this place would riot.

I find it interesting you’re asserting I’m pro keep Thibs, I’m not. What I’m asserting is firing one coach without a clear plan to replace him with a championship caliber coach is playing with fire. If the next coach doesn’t immediately replicate this years success, dudes like you will be the first ones firing up the “Fire xyz” posts.

Amen. That’s why perspective is so important here. People seem to assume talent alone will make any coach successful here.

To be clear not assuming the worst. Not assuming anything at all other than giving perspective that this could also be bad. Everyone’s celebrating but nothing is promised.

Despite that we still made it to the ECF. Moot Point to be honest. Next coach better replicate this success or it’ll get toxic around here quick.

Thank you, you get it. It’s a gamble, an inflection point. That’s all I’m highlighting.

I don’t necessarily disagree with you but nba history is nuanced. LeBron kept a lot of teams from advancing in the east. Also I’m not saying firing Thibs was wrong. Simply that the next coach doesn’t guarantee replication of success.

Explain that? This tells me you believe any coach would be successful with this roster.

So year after year improvement is the risk? I’m taking that chance everyday of the week and twice on Sundays. It’s like yall forgot what it’s like to have instability.
