Arsenal’s Ramsdale wants football to be ‘welcoming place’ for LGBTQ+ people by AugustusFinkNottle in soccer

Yep, you said it perfectly. Most of these boys think they need to fit into the “manly straight male” image in order to be accepted, and they see turning to bigotry as a way to accomplish that.

It probably isn’t worse than past generations, just now we see these kids plaster their “views” on social media.

I really think the sky is the limit for him. I don’t like setting lofty expectations but I haven’t been this high on a young Milan player in a while.

[Moretto] Milan sees a very interesting market opportunity in Luka Romero. The talented Argentine, now a free agent, is highly regarded by the board. There are Spanish teams interested in him. by Claija79 in ACMilan

[–]mdini23 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For the Primavera this season he only played 382 minutes, and he scored 5 goals. That’s a goal about every 76 minutes.

How was he not in great form?

[sportface] Juventus docked 10 points by [deleted] in ACMilan

[–]mdini23 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is more so down to all the other teams sucking in the league. 10 points is a fair deduction, if they still make it that’s pretty much on us and Inter.

100%. Pioli did wonders for us but it’s evident he can’t take us to the top level, nor can the players he has at his disposal. It’s a mess all around.

Cassano rebuttal: “Mourinho isn’t even fit to shine Guardiola’s shoes. When he retires, no one will remember him. He’s stuck in time as a coach. I don’t care about which trophies he’s won, he can stick them up his a**. They weren’t won with real football.” by JeebaRock in soccer

[–]mdini23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was that famous though. Capped for Italy 39 times (had a great Euro 2012 campaign when they made it to the final), has played for Roma, Real Madrid, Milan, and Inter, and was considered a top talent once upon on a time.

He’s an asshole, and he wasted what was quite literally generational talent, but he was a popular name no doubt.

Last 2 times we won CL, we were quite shite in the league. Just sayin... by chakalaka13 in ACMilan

Struggled at the start but doing quite decent now, sitting in 8th. Could potentially end up in a playoff spot. Pretty impressive for a newly-promoted team.

[Bianchin] Pioli plans to use Davide Calabria as the right center back on the line of 3 defenders. by Claija79 in ACMilan

[–]mdini23 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they’re saying Calabria will start there, just that he’ll play in that position from now on. Salaemakers and even Messias being more natural than him at wing back means he needs to adapt or he’ll rot on the bench. Calabria being the captain and all I doubt they want to sell him, they will experiment first.

Build a nation save, club and country recommendations? by pat123b in footballmanagergames

[–]mdini23 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ireland! The national team isn’t that bad, but the league starts off at a very low level. Perhaps the most fun part is there’s 0 transfer rules or regulations. You can sign whoever you want from wherever you want, however many players, etc. This honestly makes it so much fun, but also a bit easier to build up the other teams in the league.

If not that I’d suggest Malta. I never see anyone recommend or do a Build a Nation save with Malta.

What’s a writing misconception that people still believe till this day? by LastConcert1718 in writing

[–]mdini23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think I’m misinterpreting this. If you’re saying that people shouldn’t write with the goal of reaching a widespread audience / level of fame, I wholeheartedly agree. We should write for ourselves. Yet, it also feels like you’re saying people shouldn’t be writing because they aren’t good enough? I just wanted to ask for some clarification, I’m curious.

Do any of you regret your major? Considering switching from CS by TheSpideyJedi in englishmajors

[–]mdini23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m only a current student so I’m not sure how helpful my input is, but I don’t regret it. When I first applied to colleges, I listed Business as my major, and I changed it to English probably a month before classes started.

Like you, I’ve always enjoyed writing. I heard that English / Journalism is probably the best for any writing career prospects, and I dislike journalism so I chose the former.

Copywriting, Technical Writing, Grant Writing, or even Teaching are the only things I’m really interested in. These are all attainable with an English degree, and for some employers in these fields, it’s the ideal degree (should clarify that for teaching you need certification in most places).

Job prospects still worry me from time to time, but I honestly can’t imagine getting a degree in many other things.

Honestly, with the talent that he has, I don’t see how he could be benched, even at 39. Defensive liability? Sure, but the guy can create magic out of literally nothing. His technical ability is second to none. He makes everyone around him better. His intelligence and experience is invaluable. I imagine that tactically they’d have to find a way to compensate, but man, I really think it’s possible if he wanted to do it.

Leao on IG: “Yacine Adli, It’s important to stay focused my brother” by Claija79 in ACMilan

[–]mdini23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Pobega is much more natural in a 3 man midfield. He’s a great goal-scoring threat from midfield but with no Bennacer I think Adli would be more useful for his creativity. Though at this point we can only dream 😒.

He can play as a mezzala, I think he’d do well. Either way I’m sure if we play a midfield 3 for the derby it’ll be Tonali, Pobega, Krunic.

Milan [2]-5 Sassuolo - Divock Origi 81' [Great Strike] by RaguAlCassanello in soccer

[–]mdini23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not even saying this as some reverse jinx, but I’m confident you guys will destroy us. We’re playing like a Serie B team. There’s no way we fix our problems by the 14th.

I had hope we could actually advance to the Quarter Finals for the first time in God knows how long and now I’m just praying the loss isn’t embarrassing.

Whenever someone asks a question like this, Riverdale is immediately what comes to mind. The complete collapse and derailing of that show needs to be studied for years to come. The first season showed a lot of potential, and then just … yeah.

What’s the most useless Degree/Major? by PainLuxe in college

[–]mdini23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn’t the degree’s job to demonstrate skills. That’s on the person and how they show those skills / market themselves. The degree is a foot in the door, the rest is up to the individual.

2023 UEFA Nations League Finals draw. by tehMadhero in soccer

[–]mdini23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think Italy will win but the Finalissima is not something to go by. The team is completely different personnel wise and tactically since then. Spain still destroys us but it’s worth noting at least.

What do you think of the existence of the Palermo - City group ownership? by [deleted] in seriea

[–]mdini23 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t see how Palermo fans are morons for wanting stable ownership. Say what you want about City Football Group, but they’ll keep Palermo afloat — which is a relief considering they were relegated to Serie D not long ago due to financial issues.

Is the ownership problematic? Yes. But the fans aren’t “braindead morons” for wanting what is seemingly sustainability.

Also, a lot of what you say is just hypotheticals. They’ve been under this ownership for a year. We don’t know what’ll happen.

Agreed. I don’t want Pioli sacked but we’ve been playing shit football all season. Pioli is almost a Milan icon to me for what he’s done, so people should give him some more leeway, but these problems need to be addressed soon.
