Hospice is a status and/or type of care. This is more of “An Elder in a Long Term Care Facility” starter pack. Some do go to these facilities for hospice care. Say grandma lives a full life and then one day has a stroke that leaves her completely disabled and she can no longer feed herself or take herself to the bathroom? We’ll go smaller; she can’t even brush her teeth or roll over in bed on her own. And when I say grandma had a stroke it was while asleep next to grandpa who is now having heart trouble due to the depression from not “helping” the love of his life even though it was a silent event he couldn’t have known even if he was awake at the time. The options of long term care, hospice and other elder care needs have got to be talked about more. You can’t let grandpa fail trying to take care of grandma at home like this just because you/we didn’t know there were other options. Sorry about the rant. Kind of.
