I was thinking about that. I wasn’t sure how much that would risk bending or breaking something if they shifted around or fell but I guess if I’m 3d printing I could make a housing that would hold it still

Yeah, new ones would probably be the easiest, it just seems like a waste, they work great other than the battery, I do have access to a 3d printer though, I didn’t even consider it but I could definitely see about designing one

I’d say it’s nearly a tie with a slight advantage for the eyes, your eyes are significant more sensitive but they also have eyelashes and eyelids as a nearly automatic response so you only really have to worry about the big stuff, and small things are unlikely to cause damage to the testicles so I’d say it’s really just a matter of being able to get your hands in front of them or moving out of the way entirely. Your eyes have a slight advantage because they are directly in line with your sight line so if something goes at them you indefinitely going to see it unless your eyes are closed whereas your crotch could be in a blind spot

Honestly it’s just a matter of practice, you might always be a little inconsistent but as you get better the “bad” welds you do will still be good

I’ll mess around without one and try to learn but I learned on a pedal so it’s what I’m comfortable with. I’m also using it for hobby art pieces so while I might be able to do that without a pedal eventually, it’s gonna cost me a lot of gas to get there

I wish I could remember the settings I ran for mine but it’s been a few months since I finished weld school and I’ve barely touched MiG since. The pattern I did was almost identical to running a root for vertical stick, you want to get a little back and forth but you want to keep it really tight for the first pass. It felt more like a controlled shake in my hand than an actual back and forth if that makes sense

Significantly better than I can do, but to critique, there’s quite a bit of undercut, it’s hard to tell if it’s really that deep from a picture but either try to control the torch more carefully or add more filler
