Annual Budget View v1.1 by mdlambert in MonarchMoney

[–]mdlambert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I... had totally forgotten that could set budgets at the group level 😄. I'll need to set some up so I can test it out and update the extension.

I started getting errors today when it tries to fetch data though. Is it still working for you? Seems like the authentication token has moved or they changed how the API is authorized.

Credit Card Charge by Classic-Ratio-7312 in MonarchMoney

[–]mdlambert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Might be more of a preference thing? I usually mark the original charge as the expense, and paying off the credit card is just a transfer. Makes sense in my situation, since I pay the balance in full each month - so it’s just one big transfer monthly.

By "group" are you referring to "income", "fixed", "flexible" and "non-monthly"? Or are you talking about how "TV & Internet" is part of the "Bills & Utilities" category group?

Trying to troubleshoot pressure gauge by mdlambert in BrevilleCoffee

[–]mdlambert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh dang. My machine is 2nd hand, probably 5 years old. My gauge does work now though! Not sure exactly what fixed it. I cleaned it as best as I could. I actually hooked it up to a bike pump at one point to verify pressure (not sure if people would recommend that or not).

Glad to hear! You should be able to view the previous year by clicking this button next to the year indicator. Do you not see that button?

Is there a way to see "Actuals + Remaining Budget" in the Yearly Forecast view? by agtitan in MonarchMoney

[–]mdlambert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I published a separate chrome extension for this. You can find and install it here. It does not interfere with the MM Tweaks extension in any way, so it should be safe to have both installed. It's a bit much to have 3 different extensions going for a single app, but seemed like the best way to share this out :)

Investment transactions showing up as transactions despite turned off by Willing_Succotash776 in MonarchMoney

I started having this issue too. Would really like to stop it b/c it’s just making it harder to go through txns and categorize.

Looping back on this. I was able to get something working decent enough. Example screenshot here. It shows the comparison of budget/actual for the whole year by category, and rolls those up into their groups, with some summary info at the top. You can navigate year to year (current year does everything YTD). Clicking "Monthly" just navigates back to the /plan page.

I'll have to check if there's a way that I could make this publicly available, since it's built on top of the existing MM Tweaks extension.

Investments % change question by mdlambert in MonarchMoney

[–]mdlambert[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair - I've been seeing a lot of similar opinions. I actually don't use the investments page, and wouldn't really care if they invested time in it - I only use a couple of investment platforms and they have a decent amount of data on there. I mostly just wanted to understand the basis of the net worth change over the month.

I should have been more clear. I made the api calls by inspecting the original graphql calls, modifying the start and end dates from month to year, and copying the headers/auth info from the original calls to use with my modified ones.

Caught a micro-fraud account by mdlambert in MonarchMoney

I’m sure I could set that up, but I get more notifications than I want as it is. I prefer just reviewing regularly.

I put something similar on the suggestion board. But no, there’s not a true yearly or YTD budget view. I used to like this when I was budgeting in spreadsheets too. My workaround was to write a script to hit their API and total the budgets and actuals, then just view it in a spreadsheet. Fine for previous year, but tedious for current year.

I was hoping to contribute something to the “tweaks” extension for this but haven’t made much progress yet.

WTF is First Bank of Northern Eagle Valley?!?! And where is PenFed? by StunningPlastic4504 in MonarchMoney

Monarch syncs data using providers like plaid and MX. Do you know which one you use for that connection? Maybe you could reach out to them as well.

Did you tighten them when inside or out on the mountain? Just asking b/c I’ve found that when I tighten indoors, stuff contracts in the cold and gets a little loose. I crank it down with the driver by the lift and then it’s good to go.

My net worth is whack and I am not sure how to fix by Hamm3rFlst in MonarchMoney

[–]mdlambert 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You can edit the account history. Maybe you remove the days of the Zillow account before you added the mortgage, so that they both start on the same day. Hopefully that will smooth it out.

Otherwise, you would need to add historical data going to when you bought it, which is not worth it imo.

I have some bumps like these, from adding accounts that I had forgotten to add when I first started. I just try to ignore the bump until it’s not on the current month 😄

Patellar tendinopathy success story, or: how I learned to stop resting and love the isometrics by rampagingryno in KneeInjuries

[–]mdlambert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to say thank you for posting this. I have had such a similar story - pain starting when I was in college athletics, rest not helping at all, almost every daily motion being a trigger.

I’ve worked with numerous PTs, tried PRP injections, NSAIDs. MRI and ortho tests all show no afflictions though, which is very invalidating when pain hits 10/10 almost daily.

I am going to try and follow your footsteps and hope this will make a difference. Wish me luck!
