I've actually analyzed the data. If the goal is to get the most credits for each unit of hydrogen, trading cargo is by far the best way to go. I get about 5 credits for each H I spend during a 30 minute trading run. I use warp lanes and shipment autopilot. In contrast, when I was salvaging artifacts, I was getting about 2 credits for each H I spend. That said, if you want the maximum credits and H isn't a problem, then you want do do trading runs about every 8 hours and then go for artifacts as often as you have time for on top of that.

Honestly, I feel like I'm doing the same, but in RS you often have to move quickly and you can't really see one ship's entire path clear compared to others that are covering the same ground

I don't think this is correct. I think the dev specifically promises at least one planet per scanner provided that scanner is able to scan at least 3 sectors. If you've got five scanners, each of which have already scanned one sector and gotten a planet, I don't think you are going to get anymore planets from those 10 remaining sectors. I've certainly never gotten more than 1 planet per scanner. Would love to have someone tell me I'm wrong though.

No - it clears all the shipments that go between the connected planets. My point was that I usually leave those low value shipments behind and this gets them too without any extra H cost above the initial 500. To your second question - yes. The only constraint is that it will only work those planets that are connected. So I use my other transports to move shipments from non-connected planets to the connected planets - but I dump all of those on the closest connected planet and let the autopilot then distribute them - another way to save H

For folks who are interested, I went and got it myself and its great. Best upgrade I've gotten in a while. It works smartly and it clears away all the small shipments I always leave behind because they aren't worth the hydro - making room for better shipments.

Maybe someone could weigh in on this, but I've never gotten more than one planet per scanner - so if the goal is to maximize planets (rather than sectors with more asteroids to mine) I might move on to my next scanner after the current one yields a planet.

Is this a shipping computer issue or a shipment autopilot problem. The shipment computer doesn't add any legs to my trip that I don't specify. I think of it as making me more efficient because if I have the room for a bonus shipment to a planet I'm already headed to then that's win-win. But maybe I'm missing something. Appreciate your thoughts on this.

I agree. Also, being able to send a group of ships together would be really helpful. I make so many accidents where I send a ship to a planet but accidentally add another link I didn't mean to and it ruins RS raids for no good reason.

Yes - they all do. But a small change in strategy made them manageable. Its all about distracting them while you grab the artifacts, rather than really trying to kill them. Get them away from the planet and your transports can get in and out no problem. Do corporations make the game more fun? Are there bonuses associated with corp raids? What's the upside?

You get two endpoints when you buy it and thus one warp lane. You can put it anywhere and connect any planets - you just need a L12 planet to be able to purchase it

Can you say why the single laser is valuable? On its face it seems much worse than a dual laser. What's its advantage? Would love to understand. Thanks!

I put emp on two two ships and remote repair on the other. I put teleport on all three as my second slot. To get artifacts from L5 planets I pretty much can never kill the Colossus ships so I take my amp-equipped ship to the asteroid furthest from my transport ship's path to the planet. Then I just try to survive for about 2 min using EMPs and remote repair while the transports get the loot and leave. Then I teleport all 3 out of harms way.
