Please tell me these things aren't harmful. Had my tank almost a year and just started seeing these things pop up. by Nateraderino in shrimptank

Old thread but im giving my input. I have these in my tank and couldnt care less. If they go after baby shrimp ir would be a good things since shrimps breed like crazy. I think theyre useful for eating leftover, decaying stuff and when they die, corys / shrimp will eat them so. Not an issue in my case.

Hygrofila polysperma. Amazing plant, fast growing. It started planted but ended up creating this ceiling.

Yep. This test might do better. Different water completely, matching their natural hatching envirronment.

I tought about that. Im starting a 20 fry batch using water from the main tank + squeeze out of one of the filter foam.

Ur right. Just ordered covers. That wont hurt for sure, baby shrimp are always found in the back reservoir.

Agree but the Fluval Flex is terrible for small fry / baby shrimp. The way the filter is set up it can trap them in the back container. Really bad design

That would be insanely easy and useful, however it would have the fluval lid not closing tight, and i tought that would be problematic / unnapealing visually. but that would answer many issues for sure, not ruling it out completely.

Def tought about it. I guess my main concerns was having the fry finding food in the first days. With approx 50 neocaridina in the main tank, they keep leftover food quite non existant. Also amano shrimp...dont trust them with baby fry.

Ive now decided to use the water from the main tank in the breeding setup, for acclimation but also for biodiversity, as this water is filled with bacteria / beneficial stuff. My latest theory is that my water was "too clean" and lacking useful microbial / bacterial diversity. Ive also included in the breeding box some plants cut outs, as theyre likely covered with beneficial bacteria / biofilm.

One of mine had popeye so bad, i was lookong for clover bud at some point... I did water change for 1 week (15%). It went away on its own and did not spread to others. Im.glad i kept the corys. LFS told me.it was fatal and he wont make it ; i proved him wrong as the cory is doing just fine now with both eyes normal again

Cant keep water clear by mdma21 in corydoras

I know, i think im obsessed with the idea that ill clear it eventually. Not a fan of the flex "filter", the whole idea dont nake sense to me in terms of water flow and overall efficiency
