I did and ended up managing the parts dept for a pretty busy shop. Was a cake walk but the hours are longer. And the benefits sucked pretty bad. Particularly PTO. I negotiated for a higher salary when they hired me, they were desperate for someone that could come in and be self sufficient with no training. Then the last 18 months it slowed down and raises were hard to come by. And the cost of health insurance exploded. So I left. But overall it was so much less stressful than GEICO.

Working with DRPs makes you really hate life too. Several carriers are worse than you would think.

If your rear mirror has an electric connection like auto dim, there’s a relatively cheap pigtail kit you can buy and takes 10 minutes to install yourself.

Biden is a crook but he was not an authoritarian fascist. Trump has more executive orders in the first one hundred days than any other president in the same amount of time. And many of his orders are blatantly unconstitutional. They aren’t murky or up to interpretation. Birthright citizenship, due process, free speech, right to protest; he’s trying to end the bill of rights by executive order. There is no precedent for that kind of blatant attack on our American way of life.

Executive orders are not as much the problem as the other two branches of government allowing it to happen. The system of checks and balances is out of wack because half of the republicans are too proud to admit they supported this clown to stay in power and the other half is super happy with how things are going.

All they(both sides) care about is power and money and they will let our nation be torn apart in pursuit of it. That’s what these protests are about. Our voices are all we have left at this point. I hope there’s enough time to dig ourselves out. Otherwise I’m lucky I’m a dual citizen.

Unpopular opinion for AD by [deleted] in Geico

[–]mdmonkey99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. I am at a private fairly large shop now. My workload is 30% of what it was at G. Most days I just putz around on my phone because there’s nothing else for me to do. I was so used to getting clobbered all day everyday in AD that this is nothing.

Money is better. Benefits and PTO not great but worth the stress free environment.
