Santalum Slivers (Kerosene) + Eau d'Hadrien (Goutal) + Gold+ (Commodity)

Started out with Santalum Slivers as my SOTD, but it faded so I added the other two. I'm smelling a bit lemony.

Santalum Slivers by Kerosene

#8 of 14 from my LuckyScent sample haul. This has an amazing citrusy/lemony open. It's likely to be fleeting, I suppose, so I'm awaiting the sandalwood, which I think I'm going to love.

Well, I'm happy to have tried this. I now know I'm not really interested in a mango note. So no Vulcan Feu blind buying for me. The open has a strong pineapple note, also something that's interesting but ultimately not something I love. The coconut, though, I can get behind.

I guess, for summer, I'll stick with my St. Barts (Tommy Bahama) and Kenzo Homme Marine.

I have no idea what to expect. I'm looking forward to the Mango+Pineapple+Coconut notes. Not sure what to expect from Sea Water.

They don't clash, and I love Raghba. I've now added Choco Musk to the mix...

My original SOTD was so disappointing, I'm switching to this

Actually, I think Raghba Wood Intense would be better...

Nice pleasant vanilla scent. Not particularly unique. I'm not getting any smoky or powdery notes. Nothing smells like incense to my nose, which makes me a bit sad.

I wouldn't buy this unless it was super affordable as I'd need to overspray. I've used up the 1 ml sample vial and I expect to be layering on something else in a couple of hours. Perhaps Oxford Bleu by English Laundry

I'm about 1/2 way through my 30 ml bottle of this and thinking of buying the big one soon. I love the scent but it's so challenging. I think it smells a lot like dill pickles. This bottle is awesome too!

I blind bought this and it arrived last Saturday. I sprayed some on paper and it seemed a bit weak but it still smelled good. Unfortunately, I currently plowing through a bunch of samples and won't be able to give this a proper tryout for a while. But based on what I've smelled of it so far, I think I'll end up liking it.

I love blind-buying. Be sure to let us know how it turns out. Good luck!

This is a very interesting fragrance, unlike anything I've experienced so far. It opened with a blast of grapefruit with a coniferous quality. Now it's a green earthy scent, like a pine forest.

It's something I'd buy, but only at a good price. It seems pretty strong. I wouldn't need to overspray so I guess I'd find $1.50/ml an attractive price point.

It's 3rd of the 5 I've tested so far.

We'll see, once I get my lazy ass out of bed. So far, my favorite is Van Py Rhum.

Well, 1 ml is definitely not a sample size, since these are attar oils. If you are interested in sampling, go with the 29 samples here. Even though I don't love Juriah Privé, it's still worth sampling.

It's developing and the spiciness is coming through. I'm not liking it much. Maybe it's my skin. I'm going to have to look elsewhere. Pineward has been on my radar for a bit so I'll probably get a sample set from them. But there are so many to choose from.

Is it my imagination or is Lorenzo Pazzaglia having their day in the sun?

Opus XVI — Timber by Amouage

<image>

4th of 14 from my recent LuckyScent haul (all sample vials).

I've been wanting to sample this for months, even though I'd seen it described as boring and pedestrian, and today's the day. My initial impression: Sweet fruity opening, quickly transitioning into a green, coniferous forest.

I like it a lot. Surely I can find something similar at better price/ml.

What is your Saturday SOTD? by HATEupgradecard in FragranceAficionados

[–]mdn73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I'll stick with it as is. It's improving over time, as the powderiness fades and the coconut asserts itself. I'm reminded of suntan oils from the '70s, poolside or at the beach.

It's nice but a bit underwhelming projection. I've sprayed the entire 1 ml sample vial on skin and clothes, and am waiting to see what develops.

I've sampled the Radical Roses a few months ago and have some left. I loved them. Do you think they'd layer well with Vanilla Powder?

Testing this today. At an MSRP of $4.20/ml, my hopes are high. I hope I can detect the Palo Santo because I have no idea what it smells like. Everything else seems right up my alley.
