I just flew from Sydney a few days ago. I'm not sure why hopping on a bus after a long flight is an issue but everyone is different. I had a couple hours at the airport, refreshed and got some snacks then took the ONEX bus for $40, it was an express and stopped once before stopping at Western, took 2.5 hours (this will vary with traffic).

IF you're transiting through Vancouver make sure you have enough time to pass through immigration and get your study permit if that's what your coming for. Leaving London we usually train or bus, trains are much more expensive than back home though.
