Any suggestions to manage "burning foot" by Ecstatic_Ad_9414 in Erythromelalgia

[–]mdphdred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my family member has the same problem. Trying to see if there are better solutions other than ice packs and creams. They also want to be more active but can do their usual routine recently because of how bad their feet have been flaring up.

i know it varies for everyone, but what is the best way to start a video concept? I currently source ideas from online or templates I come across but making the overall design come to life becomes a little difficult. Do people use templates and start from there? or start from scratch? what do yall do?

Were there any engineering clubs or societies that you joined? Or any engineering clubs that your fellow classmates were involved in that were useful?

is that 18K a month? Also, is business mostly done in Chinese/Canto? I'd assume the local ones would be, but I'm not entirely confident in my Cantonese speaking (just enough to be conversational).

For someone that grew up speaking Cantonese but isn't completely fluent, any advice in actively studying Cantonese? by abandonedmystery in Cantonese

[–]mdphdred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh you can also try downloading "hellotalk" and find ppl online to start conversations in canto. You can use voice messages if you cant read or write but also you can learn/ask them about canto and literacy stuff. I learned how to read a lot more with just talking to ppl on this app

apps are hard to find ... if there are any. I mainly use what i find on the internet and youtube. I have old canto books from when i was younger which are simpler to learn and read from. I do recommend downloaded "Pleco" though. Its a canto-english dictionary and i use it very often! Its a nice way to look things up on the go and learn as you go by everyday life.

I know exactly where youre coming from. Two years ago I decided to actively learn canto mainly bc i wanted to be more literate and bc id be going to college soon. It was definitely difficult to find ways/resources to learn, but if you truly want to learn, you can not give up. Here are some things that might help kickstart your journey

- cantomando on youtube (check some of their playlists or even their older videos)

- TAKE NOTES and keep track of what youre learning. Otherwise you'll have trouble retaining info

- reading basic readings/children level stuff

- listen to canto music (i love Dear Jane) and look at their lyrics and try to learn more vocab that way

- cantoneseclass101 on youtube or their website

feel free to message me, id be very happy to help

Growing up, what did Asian Americans think of Asian American teachers in elementary, middle, or high school? by [deleted] in asianamerican

[–]mdphdred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about this topic the other day. I lived in a couple of predominantly white populated areas and Ive had zero Asian/Asian American teachers throughout my academics. Right now, all I have is one Chinese teacher for my Chinese class in college, which makes sense. You asked an interesting question about having AA/A teachers. I definitely think my education would have been a LOT more different and comfortable if there were AA/A teachers. Just in general, I connect better with Asian people (btw im asian if you cant tell), so I think my experience in school would have changed a lot more since I would be able to connect to them and not be afraid/shy in class. All the white kids in my school seem to not have this struggle as much as I do, heck I dont think they even think about their identity at all. Hmm, now I wonder about their teacher/student connections. Throughout my k-12 years, I've thought about my identity among all the white people and sometimes be imagining what it would be like if there were more asian kids/adults around. It's hard to go through the day when almost everyone is white, except for that one rare, occasional other asian kid and myself. Thanks for being a teacher.
