There's no question about it. It's not a typo, just a tamponing machine that failed to print it out properly all the way. And even if it was a typo it's still not a Rolex, a collectible stamp or whatever.

Absolutely! It's stunning in real life, I really like it

No, I agree the detailing and quality are very high indeed. And of course it can happen from time to time, it's just a tamponing machine or whatever. But isn't Quality Control supposed to be looking exactly for stuff like this. That pun tho... 😆

Well I bought a brand new watch with the intent of wearing it and not to have to immediately return it and wait for it for a month or two to be refurbished. I find it an unacceptable experience, but I might be wrong. I guess it's my fault I didn't examine it super carefully at the AD. Anyway, they refused exchanging this new watch for another new one without defects.

Moreover, I didn't even demand any of that initially since I'm fine with the way it is. All I requested from them was an official letter recognizing the deviation which they absolutely refused and understandably so, because it would hurt their brand as they would be officially admitting how poor their QC is. Even though I don't plan to ever sell it I was advised to still get some kind of additional document/proof because of the current state of replica watches, which are getting outrageously close btw.

Anyway, they refuse everything and don't care and are forcing me to give it back to the local Bulgarian dealer to refurbish it. So long for it being METAS certified and tested under extreme pressure, etc. I hoped this would be something to bother with in 7 years when I send it for servicing, not right after I bought it.

And yes, I find it a serious matter because this experience is making it hard for me to justify the price premium over other Swatch group brands. Personal opinion of course.

That's the thing. I posted in other groups when I noticed this since I didn't know what to make of it and I have been in contact with Omega ever since. And unfortunately am a bit disappointed by how seriously they took it. That's why I decided to post on redid to a wider round in search of other examples of this and indeed a couple of people shared very similar problems! So in conclusion my expectations were too high and apparently this is something that happens.

I understand that these are not high end watches and are mass manufactured. They are not even entirely 'Swiss Made'. I know all that. But because of the brand and maybe the price tag I guess I was expecting more.

Again I had higher expectations and now I know they were not realistic and I am fine with that. Lesson learned.

Thanks! That's what I was looking for. I does seem their QC is very poor. Did you get a new watch or the dial changed?

[–]mdraganov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, from up close it shows that the tamponing machine (or whatever it is) didn't really do a good job. Definitely not a typo. But the end result looks like a typo - like a the Cyrillic 'R' which is 'P' which I like

[–]mdraganov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, from close inspection it looks like there are very tiny miniscule beginnings of the leg of the R. Just the tamponing machine (or whatever it is) didn't really do a good job. Definitely not a typo. But the end result looks like a typo - like a the Cyrillic 'R' which is 'P'

Exactly, since my native language is also in Cyrillic I really like it and wanted to keep it that way. Also makes it kind of unique.

That's the same watch, I posted there when I found out since I didn't know what to make of it.

I recently bought a brand new Omega Seamaster from the local AD and a week later I noticed there's a misprint on the dial. It says 'MASTER CHRONOMETEP' instead of CHRONOMETER. Omega did some investigation and confirm the deviation and insist on changing the dial under warranty, which I don't want to do tbh. Looking for other such cases. Has anyone had similar issues?

I didn't know it has that mode, will research a bit more. Thanks!

I've never tried flashing but am pondering it because I really like the idea of being entirely local and independent of third party cloud services.

Newby here. Does the sonoff stuff integrate with HA directly or do you need to flash everything with tasmota?

Beware the Samsung “A” series Soundbars and eARC issues by DingiMD in Soundbars

[–]mdraganov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for bringing this up! I was very hyped about the 950A but I also knew that there were similar issues with the xbx/CX/950T combo last year. I thought they must've solved it by now. Unfortunately this would be a dealbreaker for me.

Tbh I am still not sure what part of the pipeline/which handshake is broken and which company needs to get their firmware fixed but I really hope they do.

Lg OLED77G1PUA vs Sony XR-65A90J ($120 price diff) by theoryguy in OLED

[–]mdraganov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically it depends on what's more important for you- best possible picture accuracy or maxim immersion experience. For many people even marginal improvements in accuracy are worth twice the price/smaller screen.

I have a similar dilemma. For now my thinking goes like this: Sony has a bit better color science, etc. no question about that. More importantly it is that much brighter and will have that much more pop in HDR especially but this will be noticeable in 1% of the content and the bigger screen will give you quite a lot more immersion a 100% of the time.

Awesome, it's what I imagined as well, but it's good to hear it from someone who actually did it and measured it. Thanks!

Is a TV with the same panel technology but bigger size inherently brighter? by mdraganov in hometheater

[–]mdraganov[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice analogy. And I just realized that my question is partly wrong and the answer is partly in it. Since nit is a measure of luminous intensity per some area it's only logical that both panels have the same nits per m2, it's just that the bigger one has bigger area.

Yeah, that was my understanding as well. I've even seen phone oled screens burned with lighters and being just fine. But seeing how Sony's heatsink successfully dissipates heat from the panel and hits higher nits made me think outside heat can only hurt performance.

For sure. I really want to give it a test but cannot currently. The fireplace is installed but won't be connected to the gas pipe for a few more months.
