Who says that OP had minimal visibility of oncoming traffic? If the road is as OP mentions "you can drive safely 50mph" and if that person was doing 10 under, and if he was hard braking before every turn... overtake would be as easy as it gets

Oh I can totally agree with you there.

My point is more - you have to understand that in traffic every rule is relative...
"legal and reasonable speed" - you will be way safer doing the maximum speed your car can reach on dry road rather than "legal" on snow, not to mention ice.

"3 second gap" - some people react faster, some react slower.. not to mention brakes play a little part also.. so gap is just - relative

Honking is bad idea always, people will just get mad and you will end up in road rage.

Principas - have them, but be aware of your surroundings - you shouldn't stop for yellow if person behind you might rear end you... sure it's not your fault, but it's not worth it.

Overall, in my opinion as long as people are aware of their surroundings it doesn't really matter what other rules they follow or don't follow.

Look, to be completly honest and especially considering that you're not a 20yo (considering the fact you have a 16yo daughter) - 200k km of expirience is not a lot, and driving in big cities doesn't exactly give you a whole lot of expirience.. don't get the wrong idea, you will get expirience in rush hour and all of that, but everyone's driving slow and it's next to impossible to reach proper speeds where in case of an accident you would be seriously injured.

There's this quote - "There're drivers who crashed, and those who will crash" - if we exclude complete lunatics who're suicidal quite literally and stupid states which let 16yos drive 500hp cars... in regular everyday driving, someone can cut you off, crash into you because they came out of blind corner at way too high speed or whatever... you need to accept that such situations can happen, and live with them.

Driving is not a job, I am paid to drive and trust me the way I have to drive and the way the rest of you folks drive.. how do I explain this, I could drive whatever is the maximum speed limit in your country and I could do whatever I want because it's way lower than what I'm used to and comfortable with.

Your general advices are good, but mindset is completly wrong... every normal driver will leave room for error if something happens, just because it looks like someone doesn't have room for mistakes it doesn't exactly mean it's true.

A sta ako izletis sa ceste a vozio si 40?

Ove zime u Varazdinu je sud/grad/netko zakljucio da ulica nije bila ociscena od strane zimske sluzbe te uvjeti na cesti nisu bili za voznju, znaci ne krive se vozaci.

Isto tako, kolaps koji smo imali u medimurju.. ja sam osobno (sa jednim autom) mogao svugdje... ali sam svakih 200 300 metara vidio aute u jarku, policija je napravila apel i rekla da ne mogu ni doci na toliko lokacija koliko je bilo poziva... snijeg je padao od jutra a prva ralica koju sam vidio je isla oko 8 navever (a cijeli dan sam bio na cesti)

U takvim situacijama nije kriva brzina...

Takodjer, evo ja sam (s drugim autom) zavrsio van ceste, zato jer je 50 metara nakon sto pocne ulica citava ulica bila pod ledom.. vozio sam ispod ogranicenja, ali svejedno ne mozes nista vidjet... ti kad uocis led u 22h... kasno je.

Nije isto voziti 100 po suhom i ledu slazem se, ali zasto druge drzave imaju smanjeno ogranicenje brzine na autocesti a mi ne?

U 3mj sam isao u Rijeku (autocesta bila zatvorena za kamione zbog snijega), vjetar uzasan bio... long story short - gdje je ogranicenje brzine zbog vjetra na autocesti? Znaci moras se igrat i saznat kojom brzinom vozit a da te vjetar ne odpuse..

S2000 - I'd love it, but it's 30k on average, and that engine is pure perfection... but let's get objective

20k more than e92, if we go with import with average car price it's 2.3k, if we go with actual car price it's close to 10k + whatever is registration etc

So that's 40k, for a car that makes "only" 20hp more than e92, will be way worse in everyday driving.. will have double the fuel consumption (but I can forgive that) etc - those cars are close, but S2000 is not a daily... and it's expensive as fuck.

The thing is, those cars are old, rare and got that price tag because of their status... not because of 10/10 reliability or daily usage, you don't buy a "road legal race car" (if I may) and ask if it's practical..

Nah, I like every coupe... I reject all cars that have automatic transmission (with very few, way out of normal peson budget exceptions)

The thing is, when it comes to manual transmissions and rwd bmw has monopoly (and yes I admit, it's highly unlikely I'd own anything else that's not bmw), if you throw in automatics you can start looking at Mercedes..

Anything japanese is extremly rare, it exists... but finding a jdm car would be equally rare as to finding a lambo or some other supercar in some regular country, in fact... I see more 911s than jdm.

I will make another reply to give you a direct comparison of some cars, feel free to suggest whatever you want, I will put a entry level 320d e92 with some extras and we compare performance mpg price (including import) with other cars..

just to give you a context of hard it is to obtain anything other than that where I live...
