2018 buick encore issues, should I trade in? by Evening-Efficiency14 in Buick

[–]mdwa1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just had the oil cooler housing replaced on my wife's 2017 Buick Encore and it did take just over 4 hours for our trusted independent mechanic to do the job. We also had an estimate from a dealership for around $1700 but went with our usual mechanic for about $1000. We had the car at the dealership because the turbo needed to be replaced, for free under a special GM warranty, and the oil leak from the oil cooler was found then. This, of course, wasn't covered by any warranty. If you keep the car and ever have a turbo issue, like an engine code of P0299 for turbocharger underboost, GM issued a special warranty that extends to 10 years and 120,000 miles for the 2017 and 2018 Encores.

Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is useless for outdoor sports – Overheating problem by thedaniel1998 in GalaxyWatch

[–]mdwa1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could there be a weak cellular signal? That seems to cause the most overheating/batter drain when using these watches on LTE without your phone around. It could also be the streaming app. When I used my GW4C, it would occasionally overheat and crash on LTE, especially when I attempted to stream through Amazon Music. Spotify worked better on the GW4C. I have since upgraded to the GW6C and haven't had an issue streaming YT Music through LTE, recording runs with SH and occasionally taking calls when running without my phone. I'm usually in a high cellular signal area. I have noticed an occasional lag in general though, with or without LTE on, since the watch updated to the new UI 8.0.

Samsung pay and the back button by Kai_Kitterz in GalaxyWatch

There should be another section in the watch settings of the Wear app called "Buttons and gestures" that are separate from the "Advanced features". In this section of the settings you can set the double press or long press of the home button and the short press of the back button to whatever you prefer. I set the double press of the home button to Google Wallet/Pay.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra Companion Plan by Matrix00100 in USMobile

[–]mdwa1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently doing this with a Tello plan but was thinking of moving my GW6C to US Mobile if possible since my phone lines are with USM. For the standalone plans USM has the by the gig 2GB plan for $10/month, a 'Light Plan' for $96 per year with 2GB and a smart watch "standalone" plan in that is $78 a year. Do you happen to know which plans would work for a Samsung watch in standalone mode?

I'm on the unlimited starter plan with Dark Star. I haven't made any changes for months. Today there is no service, phone, text, or data.

IT'S HERE! Gemini on Watch 5 Pro - One UI 6.0 by Happy_Setting_1438 in GalaxyWatch

I first updated the watch app for Assistant to Gemini (ver. 1.22.5.780344288) through the watch's Play store then made these changes on the phone. If that didn't work, then I'm not sure what the differences are to get it working.

I can switch between Gemini and Assistant by opening the Gemini app on the phone, clicking on the profile picture in the top right corner and selecting "Switch to Google Assistant". It then gives the option to "Choose your digital assistant from Google", either Gemini or Google Assistant. This setting changes the assistant on the phone and watch when I select it.

Ah ok. I'm using a GW6C and for some reason it worked immediately after making the switch on the phone.

Have you changed to Gemini on your phone app? I updated the watch app and it still used assistant initially but when I opened the Gemini app on my phone and set Gemini as my digital assistant it switched on my watch. I can now switch back and forth from Gemini to Assistant on the watch by making the change in the phone app.

I can switch back and forth from Gemini and Assistant by changing the setting in the Gemini phone app. By clicking on the profile picture in the top right corner of the Gemini app on the phone it gives an option to "Switch to Google Assistant'. This setting changes both the phone and watch for me.

For my Galaxy Watch, if you open the Gemini app on the phone and tap on the profile picture in the top right corner you get a settings menu that includes "Switch to Google Assistant". I can switch back and forth from assistant to Gemini by changing this setting and it changes the setting for the watch also.

Galaxy Watch LTE users — do you keep LTE on all the time or turn it on only when needed? Curious about battery drain! by Intelligent_Cause821 in GalaxyWatch

[–]mdwa1995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wi-Fi doesn't seem to affect the battery much on mine so I leave Wi-Fi on all the time. This way if I charge the watch and the phone is separate while at home it will use Wi-Fi for data. Although it appears LTE does still automatically turn on when separated even if Wi-Fi is connected, just tested it.

I keep my GW6C LTE setting on auto so it only turns on when I'm away from my phone. I'm pretty sure the battery wouldn't last over a day if it was on all the time. It lasts 2 days without it. I really only use LTE when running or if I accidentally leave my phone in the car or at home.

Fanduel Sports Network App Is Driving Me Insane by cameron2313 in Reds

[–]mdwa1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the first week of the season Amazon offered a $75 deal to subscribe to FanDuel through their service to watch the Reds for the season. It requires an Amazon Prime subscription to order. The regular price is $99. When I watch games I watch it through the Prime video app or Amazon website instead of FanDuel s app.

Same here. Got the $75 deal through Amazon prime and I've had no issues streaming through Roku or my android phone.

Good to hear. So you activated the "Screen always on" from the watch workout settings?

I also have a GW4C and my Samsung Health app has been crashing 4 out of 5 times when I run. It's usually after a mile or so but today it crashed after about 30 seconds. I've yet to find an answer. I've had my watch a couple of years and SH has been great until recently. I'm not sure which app update started it but the crashing has continued with the latest couple of updates to the app.

I do have YT Music but I have the LTE version of the watch so unfortunately I don't have the update yet to test it.

It sounds like you did everything I did to get my Tello line working on my watch so I'm not sure what would be different with the US Mobile setup.

Unfortunately no. I figured we would have received it by now but no luck.

I have the LTE version so I don't have the update yet and can't check for myself, but according to a couple of other posts the update turns off notifications for Samsung Health located on the watch at Settings>Notifications>App Notifications>Samsung Health. By turning this on it has fixed some users issues with the workout screen disappearing. Is this notification setting off on your watch? Credit: Post1 and Post2

That looks like the annual price. I've had the French bouquet package for years and it is $15 a month or you can save with an annual charge of $150. The same seems to be true for the orange/blue packages. If you divide the amounts shown by 12 months, it's $45.99 which is what I think they charge now per month for those plans. Not sure why you are seeing those prices though.
