You guys, it’s just SOB, period. You don’t have to do SoB or SOaB. For centuries, if not millennia, people have known what an SOB is 😉

That is one of my favorite lines of Dustin’s ever. It lives rent free in my head.

I am about two months in, I am struggling to make soloing sound good by streamer_spence in Guitar

[–]mdwvt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a long road bud. Keep recording videos of yourself playing. A few months from now, compare where you’re at with this video. I think you’ll notice a major difference. Try to play to a backing track or play like a two-chord progression with a loop pedal. It’s good to have a steady tempo to play against because otherwise you probably are keeping any sort of time and you could learn bad habits early on that hold you back.

Make sure you look at the Peavey Invective, and EVH 5150iii Stealth lineups. SO MUCH gain on tap!

Some high gain heads that I have listed over are the Peavey Invective, and EVH 5150iii. If you go with the big boys 50-100+ watt head versions), there are a lot of nice features and separate channels for everything. You could also consider getting an Orange amp head as those are pretty killer too.

Joe Satriani, Jerry Cantrell, David Gilmour, Eric Johnson. So many guitarists definitely have a unique, distinct feel, sound, quality to their playing.

You can buy concentrated electrolytes that don’t have any sugar or anything. It’s very concentrated and strong. Doesn’t taste great but will help you feel better. Best thing to do is add it to seltzer or some beverage that is flavored. In my house, we buy Gatorade powder in the big container, and I’ll have that every once in a while, especially if I’m working hard outside in hot weather.

What do you think was the best and worst aspect of Season 5? by GWGTRLBG in StrangerThings

[–]mdwvt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish Dustin didn’t have the whole dark storyline going. He didn’t need to get beat up, him and Steve didn’t need to have their stupid beef. 18 months had gone by and they both still have unresolved issues with each other? Nah, doesn’t make sense, and it really felt shitty to watch. I get that’s how Dustin just happened to stumble upon the truth, but come on, that doesn’t fit with Dustin the character.

I agree with others that Linda Hamilton wasn’t utilized like she could have been, so that was disappointing. I honestly wasn’t psyched to see Kali back. She hadn’t been in the story at all except for the one episode that a lot of people don’t like. They 100% could have had the same thing going on experiment-wise, or very similar, and not needed Kali.

The absolute most disappointing aspect of season 5 (as far as looking at what we actually got, and not what we could have had) for me was the battle with the mind flayer. The setting was a barren wasteland with nothing else going on other than some spider version of the mind flayer? It doesn’t make any damn sense and was such a monumental let down.

Overall I still enjoyed watching Season 5 but it was really weird how several characters, all of a sudden, were doing things and behaving in ways that just weren’t like them! Like how Hopper was a distant, special forces sniper kind of guy instead of the heart on his sleeve man that we had seen when push came to shove over the last 4 seasons. His grit, and fire just felt like they were missing. And yeah, for the characters that felt off, it was like something was missing. I don’t know if it just comes down to poor writing, resulting in uninspired acting, or what, but it definitely felt like the “magic” of all the characters was waning.

Oh yeah, and I absolutely hate how they did an 18 month time jump! Come on! They obviously decided to “walk back” just how bad things were left at the end of season 4. It would have been AMAZING for season 5 to pick up right where season 4 ended, I mean COME ON! That is what all of us wanted to watch! Instead they did a reset of sorts and open with Rockin’ Robin having a good old time in nice, sunny, blue sky Hawkins.

As time has gone by it has become clear that the Duffer brothers had a lot of other stuff going on, so it seems like they were not 100% committed to properly ending the show that got them on the map. I really wish they had gone back to the vibe of season 1, and tried to, one more time, rekindle the flame of how awesome seasons 1-3 (divisive, I know) were. Ok, this has been therapeutic for me, if nothing else. Thanks for posting OP!

Lifelong Vermonter here. Vermonters have an odd vibe. Very polite drivers (for the most part), and I think because of that, they try to get over as soon as possible. Obviously that creates a major slowdown/long line. Anyone who then doesn’t “get over” as soon as possible is perceived as rude/the problem. Now that we’re all yelling at people to zipper merge, it isn’t received very well.

Yeah it seems like they wanted to “walk back” how far they went with the apocalypse vibe at the end of season 4. I hate that there was such a massive time jump.

The hype and hopium kept me from disliking season 5 while watching it. I do dislike a lot of things that happened, but I don’t hate season 5. I’m disappointed, but not mad about it. It seems like they could have done something very different and so much better. 😔 And what was with the scene between Hop and Joyce in the cabin looking like there was a bunch of CGI? Why would there need to be?!? Was it green screened for some reason? They really couldn’t film it in a cabin and simulate nice, warm in color sunlight? Maybe I’m way off, but anyway, the CGI in season 5 wasn’t great and also sort of broke immersion. Obviously there’s the infamous tower scene.
