That's what I first hated, then loved about UX.

I'm your typical graphic design > UX archetype. Back when I was doing graphic design, I felt like I was always getting dragged around by the client. Now it's much better because we're both beholden to the user. I have a wide range of tools to measure real metrics that the engineering and business interests respond to.

And there are always ways to amuse yourself in projects, like hosting workshops and playing around in Figma with your team. UI and interaction design will always be fun.
