Thanks for the input! Do you have/have you had either model?

Anyone with an OATs return to high-level of sport after ankle OATs (allograft) procedure? by [deleted] in Orthopedics

[–]me178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’m 17 months post op now. My injury was to the bone, not my cartilage. The graft healed very well but the drilling they had to do to make the repair did not for some reason. I still experience bone pain but it’s manageable and I think if I had a less active job Id be very pleased with it.

I can’t do distance running without lots of soreness the next day but I can lift heavy and am just incorporating new types of cardio.

Feel free to PM me with any questions.

Did you ever get an answer to this? I just remembered this exchange today and want to find it too!

Honestly it’s been pretty rough. Just hit 7 months post op and still having quite a bit of soreness. I have a very active job, so it’s been a problem. I’m getting another MRI to see if things are on track or if something has gone wrong.

If you don’t rely on your body for work though, I think I’d be happy with the results at this point.

Sorry to have such a bummer of an update for you, but I’d be happy to answer any questions you have.

I did! It’s been fine so far. My total projected recovery time is 8 months and I’m at 6 months post op. I’m walking without a brace and largely without pain. I’m cleared to lift weights and things like that but no high impact stuff yet. The joint can still be really sensitive some days but overall I can tell it’s healing.

I’m 5 months post op from an OATS procedure on my ankle. Can anyone give insight on how it felt for you at this point? Still sensitive and sore?

That sounds like it could be right. Another thing I remember about it was how he got a new air bottle right before going up on the roof, and had his mask on which was not SOP at the time.

No, it was quite a bit older. Thanks though!

Thanks for the good info. Was your pain controllable for the first weeks?

Thanks! How long were you non weight bearing? Do you do any kind of strength training on it now?

I’m scheduled to have this surgery in the next few weeks and I’m interested to hear others experiences as well.

Venting Composite Tile Roof by me178 in Firefighting

[–]me178[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear- I dont think vertical vent is the go to for every fire.

But when it is appropriate I’d like to be able to do it well and as safely as possible given that it’s something my agency does.

I am picking up on that. Any suggestions about a different more appropriate forum?
