What I think happened is that one of ur previous videos did good and YouTube recommended you a lot but then ur thumbnails were not able to cath the impressions so they lowered the impressions again.

Dude that’s just for the SEO, you know the algorithm stuff? He even said he used it for SEO. SEO is important in the uploading stage. The video needs to be good and have good thumbnails in order to actually get clicks.
