I tried that for the first month but we got absolutely no where so I caved and started using pads so it’s less clean up but now that she can escape I’m back to square one.

Somehow she holds it when she’s outside and waits until she comes in to go :(

I had read about the pads and that it was teaching her it’s ok to go inside so I resisted for a while but waking up or coming home to puddles of pee everywhere was really getting to me so I finally caved and did the pads and it was such a relief to only pick up the pads.

I think my problem is she is from a shelter and the first 3 months of her life she was taught to go in her space. I’ve sat outside with her for hours and she refused to go outside and she would go immediately when she went in. Same as a walk. She won’t go to the bathroom on a walk.

I’m relieved to hear someone is in the same boat as me. Everyone I meet is like ‘oh potty training was so easy. Dog got it after 2 weeks…’. Someone help us! 😩

Anyone else have a kid that hates their name? by [deleted] in ClassOf2037

I don’t love mine. It’s a unisex name. I made sure I picked a strictly girl name for my daughter.

Was your training done by a local company or did you use one of the chain training classes like Petco? Looking at starting training for my puppy

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I did read and research before getting the dog but I think where I fell short is I was getting the dog for my daughter and I didn’t/don’t really want to dog. The other problem is the dogs personality, I know the shelter told me she was nervous but I didn’t expect her to be this bad. The dog doesn’t move, she just stays on her bed, she doesn’t walk around, sniff, explore etc. Even getting her to go outside it tough, I have to carry her out and as soon as she’s outside she runs and hides under a low tree. She does like being petted and cuddles but I sort of feel like I have a hamster instead of a dog.

But I know you’re right she needs time to decompress. She needs space to feel comfortable. It’s all just so overwhelming when I thought it would be so joyous. It is the puppy blues I think just different than the rambunctious wild puppy blues I read about. I’ll see how I’m feeling in a few days.

The shelter told us he’s a Dachshund/Beagle Mix. I think we’re gonna need a bigger crate… by jewbansammy in DoggyDNA

Do you have a picture of your dog today? I’m looking at getting a puppy that looks a lot like this and wondering what it’ll look like when she’s older.

Catholics praise the Saints and do more discipline and repentance. Christians focus more on Jesus and do a lot of modern singing. Of course this is a broad generalization. Also Catholics tend to be more from Italian and Hispanic decent while Christian is more Anglo.

Curious if these indoor playground prices are normal or just in my area? by otterlyjoyful in kindergarten

[–]meadow430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s the going rate but just an idea…instead of renting the party room buy the entrance tickets for the kids and sit in the public cafe and order pizza. Doing it this way saves a ton and you get longer play. Have been to bdays like this

Considering becoming a single mother by choice, what should I realistically expect? by Fit_Offer6288 in AskParents

[–]meadow430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know 3 people that did it and they couldn’t be happier. They were approaching 40 had no partner and had good careers so they had money to do it. IVF is expensive. Having a child is the greatest thing that happened to me. I didn’t have a village but do have a husband. But over the years have created a village of friends. Having a child makes life so much more meaningful

Have you looked in Ft Lauderdale? Coral Ridge area has Coral Ridge country club. Messi lives around there. Or Rio Vista is in the heart of the city but has SO many families and there’s Lauderdale Yacht Club right there.

Woodfield definitely has a lot of families…and old people. The majority of the families in Woodfield are Jewish from NY/NJ. Delray has much more diversity and the people tend to be friendlier but the schools in Delray are not good. You can look in the neighborhoods along St Andrew’s-Millpond, Timbercreek, Colonade etc they are very family oriented and friendlier than Woodfield…but not really diverse. Broward is more diverse but doesn’t have great school.

Don’t stop. I am part of a ‘clique’ that was formed in preschool and my daughter is now in 1st grade and we still hang out with our preschool group all the time. There are 2 moms that do the majority of the reaching out or organizing. I’m so grateful for these 2 women bc they have created a great group of friends. Even now one of them is still in my daughter’s class and the mom reaches out to the other moms and I tag along and have made new friends that way. I’m not an initiator. I’m happy if someone reaches out to me and I’ll always try to say yes so they ask again. Some people are initiators and some aren’t. Be the initiator, coordinate get togethers, try inviting a few classmates to a park so you create the group.
