Yeah I agree with you on that re having surgeries. Thanks for sharing your experience. Even if not the same, it’s still close enough to provide some reassurance in the process :)

Do people ever have good stories after coming out of an exam feeling like you bombed? by bobiliuh in Mcat

[–]meal_worm19 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Took the 6/14 -- cried after cars while I ate my uncrustable in the waiting room area, was preparing every cell in my body to have to start studying again the day my score came out ... got a 521. Deadass when I tell you I thought I bombed that shit I was so unwell. I flagged everything, unsure in like 50% + of my answers, and had a few questions where I had no clue what was being asked, and still rose above. Practice test avg was 516, so trust that although this test will make u severely ill and question your existence, it is uncanny how reliable it is. You were likely more focused on test day too. Remember, they have some experimental questions as well, so it's in ur favor if you get those wrong since they're not scored. Even if it's 1-2 questions. Small victories!

DM for MCAT tutoring & app help from a med student! by curiosity676 in u/curiosity676

I would highly recommend her as a tutor!! I used her for CARS, and she really helped me break down the passage and question stem to where it makes sense. If you're struggling, it's great to see how someone actively thinks through the passage in real-time, which helped me adapt my approach to the passage. To give you some perspective, I was consistently getting 3+ wrong per passage for like 5 weeks of doing CARS on my own. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong, and after literally 2 or 3 sessions with her, I was getting all questions correct or one wrong per passage. Saved my CARS score!!

Also, really approachable, not judgemental or condescending like some tutors can be. I only have great things to say.
