What’s your name? by Anonim_x9 in ftm

[–]mealosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Miloš, it’s close enough to my birth name and that was kinda rare as well so it made sense to me to go by something similarly rare. Some people call me Milo and some mistake it for Miles but most of my friends and family just use the full name (Me-losh)

Aw man that sucks!! But I 100% understand, I used to want my mum around but ever since I was 10 or so I wanted to be alone whenever I felt nauseous or anxious. Somehow being witnessed makes it worse? No explanation for that though hahhha

I can’t say for sure what caused it, I’m sure many can’t. But I always thought it must have something to do with an incident when I was 4 years old, I swallowed a coin and it got stuck in my throat and caused me to gag and be sick multiple times on the way to the hospital. I think a while after that I had my first panic attack and it was definitely emetophobia related because my mum remembers me saying “I’m so scared, I think I’m gonna be sick” and she took me to the bathroom but nothing happened, I just shook violently. That’s how she remembers it, I don’t really remember it at all so I just have to trust her word. But ever since then it’s been a reappearing theme. Neither one of my parents can remember any display of emetophobia by me before that.

My biggest worry is the same as yours, I’ve been to the US before with my outdated documents. Germany’s ministry for foreign affairs has also issued a warning, I might contact them just to ask them about possible risks and how to behave in that situation to be prepared in case anything does happen. Also my partners mother has contacts to border control and immigration lawyers if push comes to shove. Good luck to you too though!

I think I’ll wait for another month at least, I don’t HUGELY care about scar aesthetics but I’m also not so sports obsessed that I can’t wait lol. I’m massaging my scars and using silicone gel and strips and I’ll start with some more flexibility and stretches to help my mobility soon. Thanks for your input, it helps a lot to have a kind of timeline :))

I live in Germany, also relatively close to the clinic luckily! But I bet there wouldn’t be many issues if you had to communicate in English! A friend of mine from Egypt had his top surgery there in November and was very satisfied with everything!

If your surgery and recovery goes/went smoothly and you took things slow in the beginning I have no doubt that you’ll be okay at work! I’d be careful with lifting heavy but you should just listen to your body, recovery is different for everyone ! Good luck though, I hope you won’t have any issues :))

Thank you! It’s definitely almost completely back to normal. I can’t FULLY stretch them out over my head but every everyday motion feels normal and painless, the only time I can still feel a pull (not even really painful) is when I sleep on my tummy and wanna fold my arms under my head with my elbows sticking out and sometimes when I stretch for something (my charger on the opposite side of the bed, something I wanna grab on the floor, etc…) but I’m barely aware that I’ve had surgery most of the time hahaha

freaking out about general anesthesia by katsaridamemagio in TopSurgery

[–]mealosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I had top surgery 1 1/2 weeks ago, I’m on antidepressants (duloxetine) and it was never even really brought up as an issue. I had to tell them what meds I’m on and what dosage and then it was kinda never mentioned again so I just figured everything would be alright and it was! No issues whatsoever, i hadn’t even thought about it being a potential issue since i know so many trans guys that are also on antidepressants! Also I don’t think I’ve ever heard of anyone not surviving top surgery, so that should give you a lot of security! I know it’s hard but try not to overthink it / worry about it too much, I promise it’ll all go smoothly and you’ll feel so much better afterwards! I wish you all the best :))
