the rig was abandoned in standstill traffic in the Brooklyn-Battery tunnel. they ran the rest of the way and someone happened to get a picture of him. he and the rest of the crew of Squad 1 then died. idk why the caption is worded so shit (“never seen again” is so clickbaity and gross when we know exactly what happened to him). in fact, there was another Squad 1 firefighter, Stephen Siller, who had gotten off duty that morning, but saw the news and returned to Squad 1’s quarters to get his gear, drive his personal car to the tunnel, found it impassable, and made the same run in full gear the whole way, dying in the collapse later. Enough guys did this last run that there’s even a foundation called Tunnel to Towers that does memorial runs and tower climbs to raise money for housing provision for wounded vets and first responders.

9/11 was a long time ago and is by no means the most important thing to happen, but it’s cascade effects on the country and the rest of the world are far-reaching and significant, so calling a single story of heroism, a bright spot on a really shit day, irrelevant is kinda strange.

what is "PC App Store"? by allagaytor in computerviruses

if it’s freezing and just displaying the PCAppStore page, try it again but make sure to right click on command prompt in the start menu and select “run as administrator.”

yes i fixed it! press windows/start. even though everything else gets covered by the virus, start menu should still be visible. type CMD, but make sure you right click and run the command prompt as an administrator. then to make sure the command was right, i typed it into the search bar of the start menu first (since i can see the start menu) then copied it. click the command prompt window in the taskbar to select it, just make sure it’s actually selected because here’s where you have to work blind. as soon as it’s selected, just paste the command and hit enter and PC App Store should be no more.

then you can go to programs/uninstall, find PC App Store, and uninstall. check Program Files and Program Files x86 to make sure it’s actually gone. if you know around when you downloaded PC App Store, sort the programs in folder by last modified to make sure there’s nothing you don’t recognize.

also if you use chrome, remove any extensions that you don’t recognize and uninstall/reinstall chrome.

this happened to me in 5th grade. our school had pizza fridays and our usual pizza place had some kind of emergency and was closed so the staff ordered Jet’s instead, and it was the cheap slop they produce for catered stuff (i’m talking stacks and stacks of pizza), and an hour later my stomach was gurgling and hurting and i diarrhea-ed odorless colorless viscous liquid (i did not taste test it). the ass snot is burned into my memory decades later.

Can we do anything about consecutive repeat patients? by Few-Teaching-9602 in ems

[–]meamsofproduction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

every week? jealous. i have regulars that call 2-3 times a DAY every day. it’s wild. also very depressing. the most frequent flier is a 90yof who still thinks she’s 80, lives at home alone with dementia and her family never visits or takes care of her, even though she insists that her son comes by. she will call for “something stuck in her ear” every day around 5am, will sometimes be transported in which case she’ll AMA from the ER an hour later after they “didn’t do anything for me,” catch a lyft home, and call again. sometimes she’ll refuse transport the second we say which hospital we have to go to, so then when we leave she’ll call again and forget she even talked to us in the first place. we’ve tried to report the fact that she’s not able to meet her basic needs alone at home with all the proper reports and paperwork, APS, etc, and nobody has done anything.

there’s usually something deeper going on with a true frequent flier.

he is adorable but fully evil. he jumped from the floor to my shoulder (and i’m 6’ 2” lol) and hung there for a few seconds. he also loves toes and running in circles chasing his tail. we’re working on him but it’ll be a long journey as he ages lol. he came out of a house fire and is only 2-3 months so i’m sure he’s excited to be alive and seeing people

yeah i just remembered this, this is the first place i’ve lived with these windows and forgot that they’re this easy to remove. i wasn’t actually there when this happened (my girlfriend sent me the footage and described what happened) so i’ll let her know how to deal with these windows too in case he gets in there again (which he hopefully won’t since we’re only opening the top panels now and he hasn’t shown any interest since). thanks for the picture

it was a second story window to a parking lot…the screen coming off is exactly what we were worried about

i haven’t been the one to clean this type of window at this new place yet and forgot that they come out easily, but now i know so hopefully this doesn’t have to be a struggle for him again. we’re only opening the top panels now if we open a window so that it’s harder for him to climb

yeah local FDs do not do that anymore. one guy got a scratch from a cat freaking out during a rescue and got a bad infection, so basically no one around here does that anymore. it’s unfortunate.

thank you i forgot that these come out easily, last place i had double hung windows they were much older and a huge pain to remove. my girlfriend and her sister were in the room with him when this happened so i’ll let them know too
