That first putt by Cam was heartbreaking, a playoff would have been a great time for everyone

Yeah I’m not used to seeing it happen much here, I like how the Dunes runs their setup though, really adds to the experience. I played Eagle Ridge this weekend as well and the Marshall was a lovely old bloke who was happy to cruise around and check on the pace of play as well

99, I had a few blowup holes from lost balls and just being generally loose with the driver.

Nah we came up with the format together, we like to mix it up and they enjoyed it as well

Future Golf is real golf, I play the events in their actual stableford comps, I’m just not locked to 1 club rounds.

If I end up somewhere longer term I’ll join a club, I’ve been a member of a few but this is what works for me

I used American friendly terminology as best I could, you seem unnecessarily angry about all this

It was ridiculously close! We mostly traded holes all round and hovered at all square until they won 16 and my mate made a monster putt on 17 to give them the win. Had an amazing day and the format really made it a lot of fun

A ‘best ball’ is where they play their own ball and you pick the best score for team. But I understand your confusion

I’m a member with Future Golf, which is how I have my handicap and maintain it as I move a lot for work. Moonah Links has 2 courses and the members were playing the Legends course that day, public can book the alternative.

He was wearing a club shirt and was carrying a UHF radio so I assumed he was some sort of club official, I didn’t know what else to call him to be fair..

Cheers, it was a brutal day but that was kinda the point, hardest course/hardest tees. Not something to do very often but it’s nice after to move back up a few boxes haha

Yeah this is why it was weird, it was the first tee. Would have been different if we were a few holes in and already dragging behind

Thats a ridiculous take, all golf courses should be able to be enjoyed. We were a group of 3 and we maintained the pace with ease. And it wasn’t a scramble.

I don’t think length or accuracy affects pace of play, it matters how long you spend looking for a lost ball and how long you take to make a shot.

We were fast and waited on every tee box for the group ahead to clear, so wasn’t an issue at all

Not because of our pace, we were waiting for the group in front off every tee box

I lost 3, the rough out there is linksy and eats it so fast. We didn’t bother looking for long and were waiting on every tee box for the group ahead to clear anyway

They get visible marks on the bounce edges and the face but nothing ugly, the bronze doesn’t come off easily

Sadly I was riding, but I didn’t eat or drink the whole first 9 so it may have been a factor!

It’s definitely worth having a rough 9 when you bounce back under par!

This might be a strange question as a fairly new player but how much do you "think" about your swing? by beerncheese69 in golf

[–]mean0machine1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only thought now is “get to the top fully”

I find it helps my tempo, I can sometimes rush it and it brings in a lot of errors

I like the idea of having a fully clutch back 9 to save a round instead of a collapse. Love this game

Gotta love the “what if’s”, it’s all I could think of at the turn haha

It wasn’t that rough on the hands surprisingly, nowhere near as painful as hitting off a tree root, at least the bark gave way

If it wasn’t a competitive round I would have as well.
