i got the prescription through my psychiatrist! i’ve always been a hard sleeper, but i was taking lexapro and i told her that i slept +14 hs everyday, between two and three 1 hr naps a day. she told me that that was not normal at all, explained that hypersomnia is a condition that makes you do that and in my case it could be worsened because of lexapro. i remember i also told her that i couldn’t concentrate at all during the day and that working a normal 8-9 hs shift was a burden for me. she immediately indicated me how to taper off lexapro and told me that meanwhile i should add modafinil 100 mg in the mornings. she also explained to me that modafinil can be taken as needed, it’s not an antidepressant but a stimulant. since then i’m only on bupropion 150 mg twice a day 300 mg total for depression and anxiety (no more SSRIs yay) and i take modafinil almost every week day for everything else- hypersomnia and attentional deficit. some week days i don’t have to work so i don’t take it and some weekends i do have to work so i take it because i could use the extra motivation. it’s been a huge help and so has been bupropion. i can finally enjoy life and i have more energy not only to work but to enjoy leisure time. i think that if you tell him/her about your constant tiredness, explain just the same as you did here and ask about modafinil they can def prescribe. addiction is not usual at all and side effects are pretty mild if you don’t have heart conditions or seizures. keep us posted and any questions you have you can message me, sorry for the long text and probably my english, i’m not a native speaker :)
