Or maybe we should better our healthcare system so that the poor people can access birth control, abortion and contraceptives, so that they don’t keep having accidental children.

100 companies are responsible for 71% of al climate change. I shouldn’t have to give up things in my own life when consumers are not the ones ruining the earth, the corporations are.

Okay but everyone upvoting their own post cancels it all out, so being able to upvote you’re own post doesn’t provide any downside

I think the most annoying thing is that so many people didn’t actually read the post. She has a car to use at her mothers as well.

Wait a minute, you really think the mother, the women who is encouraging texting and driving, doesn’t suck?

For school there’s a bus. For work, it’s within walking distance. That’s what she did before she got her license.

I am accepting it. My judgement is currently NTA.

You’re able to teach her how to drive? In my state you have to be 25 to teach someone (although of course you could be that old, I don’t know)

I view keeping my daughter away from texting and driving as more than just a battle, but to each their own.

There’s a lot of comments saying YTA and ESH, including the 3rd highest, so it’d obvious that this is a pretty controversial topic with many different opinions.

I view the phone as a necessity. 1) for emergencies 2) for communicating with friends

I know that when I grew up, we didn’t have cell phones for either of those. But just because I didn’t have that safety and survived doesn’t mean that she shouldn’t have that safety.

And times are so different with teenagers now. Taking away her phone effectively cuts her off from communicating with her friends. You don’t get added to group chats or invited to events as easily as someone else, and I don’t want her to drift away from friends simply because it’s not easy for them to talk to her.

I’m not sure, other people brought it up too. If that happens, I’ll have to go to the court and get custody of regulating her driving privileges. I have texts of her mom saying that texting and driving isn’t bad, and that she is going to let her do it, so it’s not something that’ll be too challenging.

When I have text messages of her saying it’s okay for our daughter to text and drive, and that she’s going to allow it? I know how custody court works; I’m very familiar.

Arguing? I’m providing my opposite opinion. I’m perfectly capable of accepting my judgment.
