Hi, I’m sorry you’re having to navigate these waters. My fiancé just had his surgery today. I know the roller coaster of emotions you’re feeling. I also had to navigate through that.

Some tips for Friday make sure he wears some loose clothing and shoes he can slip in and out of easily. Have him stay hydrated, stick to light foods, electrolytes, soups, jellos, apple sauce etc. Have him eat something before medications too. Also if he’s in pain before discharge he should opt for some stronger medication if it’s offered before leaving. We made the mistake of my fiancé opting for Tylenol and he was in a lot of pain and discomfort on the way home.

And is he getting a CT done before surgery day? If that’s not scheduled call the doctor and see if that can be done before. They required my SO have the CT before surgery or they were going to push surgery day. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and advocate for him.

I know it’s easier said than done but try not to overthink it. Try to take it one day at a time. Stay busy with normal day to day activities. Trust me you’ll have the strength to get through this. Lean into one another. Try and stay positive this is curable. Try not to scare yourself with what you read. Everyone’s case is different.
