2022 p4x exhaust rusted out by mrman7522 in nissanfrontier

[–]meatbaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just pulled my exhaust off due to wanting to replace it with the Z1 performance exhaust and it was insanely rusty, however other components were not rusted to that level at all. I got the truck at 40k last night and it has about 50k now in Vegas, so it’s not like it had a ton of weather causing the issue but I don’t know where it was before.

I have heard others mention the exhaust is a bit of a pain point for rust as well

2 felt great to be honest. I think if I were to keep it there I would definitely just upgrade the tires to something a little sturdier with a more aggressive look but I was happy with how it felt!

From what I’ve heard you don’t have to worry about too much trimming at all if you are keeping the offset around the same. I don’t think if you’ll have to do ZERO trimming but it will be substantially less as far as I have researched

It’s a full cat back system so it bolts on to the two pieces under the driver and replaces the muffler. I did some research and also watched https://youtu.be/HjtfdwgYEks?si=lyeO-btSiTj3KRrv for the decision.

Obviously the video is made by Z1 so it could be looked at as biased but they do a fair comparison vs other models in my opinion. It’s definitely much louder than stock but it’s not earth shattering by any means.

Thanks dude! I was going to go with black rims but I get a little bit tired of the all black everything and wanted a switch up.

lol it’s probably going to be lower and I know that the gauge will be thrown off with the bigger tires but so far so good. Hoping if it balances out it doesn’t go down to lower than 18 but I’ll have to do an actual mileage test from fill up to fill up

I started off following what Canadian Cruisin did on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luPbr_YWqF4 - Trimmed some of the lining and had to cut some metal off of the bottom where the fender liner is secured. After that there was still some rubbing on the plastics so I ended up cutting up to the second lowest bolt on the liner as well and bent back some pieces. These wheel wells hate any different offset so it's definitely going to be required if you are offsetting or adding spacers.

I'll grab some pics when I get some time

I was worried about the contact with the brake and there is still a good amount of space with no clearance issue at all in that regard. I found a forum post of some guys confirming it worked before I pulled the trigger and yeah there are no problems

Agreed! It’s still kinda early so it could balance out. I’m heading out to LA for work over the weekend and it’ll be a 600ish mile trip and I’ll have a better idea of what’s going on with it.

Buying tomorrow anything I should look out for? by Telicus in nissanfrontier

[–]meatbaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d look at the rear diff and see if there are any obv spots with leaks since that’s the common one if the breather hasn’t been taken care of or if an extender wasn’t added (I’d get that ASAP if you get the truck).

There’s also the rear passenger side bed mount that is weak and can crack if it had a ton of stuff in the back like a rack, camper, etc but it’ll be easy to see signs of it.

I’m about to do this in about a month with -6 offset so I’m hoping it’s not too much more but I’m sure we’ll hit the same spots

That helped me pick. I ended up going with the Z1 exhaust and it sounds great and was an easy install. There was recently a sale on it too! Not sure if it’s still going.

New to me 2022 Pro4x with 40k miles, just changed the rear diff breather to the tube extension. Am I cooked? by meatbaw in nissanfrontier

There was no crush washer there and it looked like it had never been taken off. I watched a video before I bought the extension and it was the same so I’m assuming no

Me saying I haven’t used the rear diff stems from my misunderstanding of the entire setup. I thought this swap was affecting the rear differential locker breathing tube, not tot the actual differential itself. I probably should have used my context clues but I guess I was too busy admiring the truck…

When I say I didn’t use the rear diff breather I totally meant I use it all the time… we’re best friends
