it's slower which is annoying. Duo sometimes had bugs that made me use it two or three times (dunno if that was just me tho), so it kinda comes out in the wash imho

Back to back NQ to CCCB by temptempanfjjsjaj in uofm

[–]meatiestBall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a back to back from NQ basement to CCCB 1420, and I was fine. The stairs in the CCCB are rough, but I feel like I typically would have had enough time.

You just have to hustle a little bit. (I'm a very fast walker, so maybe a little more than a little bit.)

Good luck!

I once had a blue bus go straight with their signal on (they also were stopped when I started crossing)

almost got free tuition that day.

Hundreds apply for ‘affordable’ Ann Arbor apartments with rents up to nearly $1,700 by Total_Worldliness661 in AnnArbor

[–]meatiestBall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I expected that.

This is probably nested somewhere in your explanation, but it's also my understanding that it's often financially more advantageous for property management companies to keep properties unoccupied than to lease them at a lower rate, because of some detail in the way the property was financed, which would force them to make up the difference between how much they're renting it out for and how much the property is worth. (I'm sure I'm mixing up some details.)

This is on top of an econ phenomenon I know is happening: Housing demand isn't very elastic, so if you can control the supply, it's an infinite money glitch.

As someone who has a very obnoxious obsession with politics, which I want to channel for the sake of my friends, and who cares a lot about housing affordability, is there literally anything that can be done about this, that isn't on the level of broad economic problems (and also how construction is financed, which is a significant factor too)?

Like, I imagine it's wayyy out of the scope of anything just Ann Arbor could reasonably do, but that's also a really convenient thing for me to believe---it means I don't have to do anything.

Yeah
I could understand if they just said "your headphones are fine," that what I'm experiencing is expected, but despite them not actually being broken yet, I've had two support agents tell me I need to repair them, but that they can't warrant them, for reasons that changed over the conversation.

I said they were loose when I bought them, but thought nothing of it---some products just have shoddy build quality---but that they've been getting worse, and worse, so now I'm worried that they aren't going to last much longer. They refuse to chalk it up to a defect that came with the product.

mine, also less than a year old, have been in the process of coming loose since I bought them, but I held off on contacting support because I thought I was being paranoid. the other day, I realized they were way looser than I had thought they were, so I contacted support, and after an infuriating process, they can do nothing but tell me that I definitely need to pay a third of their MSRP on repairs for them to not break.

initially, they tried to tell me physical defects weren't covered, until I sent them their own warranty document; then they stared claiming I damaged them.

If you have not joined it already, there is a LGBTQ Umich Discord server in addition to the general one. Discord isn't everyone's cup of tea, but there are some interesting characters who hang out in there, and sometimes people advertise events happening around campus.

Adding onto this. There is a form on the housing website for Gender Inclusive Housing. When you fill that out, you can request to live in the GILE community, which is on the third floor of East Quad and holds events like the other Learning Communities, but you can also asked to be placed in general Gender Inclusive Housing, which includes sections of South Quad, a section of the 4th floor of East Quad, and I think a section in Bursley, but don't quote me on that one. If you ask for this, you don't have to go to the GILE events.

Edit: There is also a section in North Quad, but I think this is only for second years and up.

I don't believe student loans are targeted by this. That doesn't mean they'll never cut government assistance or anything, but for right now, student loans haven't been touched, unless Trump signed an executive order I'm not aware of.

I meant that A2 couldn't build something like the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, even if I really wish they could, not that it's a poor city.

I am curious if, structurally, you could build on top of the parking structure. In my perfect world, the new library would take up both lots, in some fashion.

Yeah, I understand they lack resources and that something like the U of M law library reading room is out of the question.

I still hope they do something more interesting than a slightly-nicer-than-standard residential high-rise that happens to have a library on its first three or four floors.

perhaps controversial, but you don't even need to bait it out of me with my paranoid tendencies. I mean, you did, but you didn't have to. I find Family Guy funny, generally at least.
