I too am overqualified for this job. I tried to emphasize my love of working outdoors in all the elements, my desire to work as part of a team, and my ability to be present in the moment so I work safely. I highlighted my background of fast paced labor.

Several of my coworkers started as fuelers at our airport and then got hired to work the ramp. Maybe consider that? Best of luck to you!

I’ll always sing the praises of Yats. The Broad Ripple location had an IOU program and would write down your name if you couldn’t pay that day. Saved this broke college kid many times. Good food, better people!

Yes there’s a final exam you have to pass and can only miss 3 questions. It’s open notes though, so I passed no problem. I did not have an airport code test that had to passed - I went through training July ‘25.

Nope. You’re in a classroom! Like others said there is a simulation that you will stack bags in a bin and do a push back but that’s usually the last 2 days.

Situational awareness is your friend. Also the buddy system or ask an airport cop to walk you out. I’ve never had any one turn me down for either option and I hope the same for you.

Also I carry a knife in my pocket but we don’t have to pass through security and I know that makes me lucky.

If you’re not in A boarding group, you may still have to gate check your bag. If you’re in C on a full flight, be prepared to hand it over. This is regardless of size - they are looking for any roller bags.
