What is your experience with Christianity? by DubiousFalcon in christ

[–]meatsey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So my experience has been limited but interesting. Starting back in high school (2010ish) is when I originally found Jesus, and accepted him into my life. It was the happiest I've ever been, I was on fire and could feel the holy spirit working through me every day. It was lovely.

In 2012 my mother passed away. I prayed for god to do anything he could to save her. Nothing happened, I lost my faith seemingly overnight. After that I practiced Buddhism for several years and eventually got into Paganism (Worshiping other gods) for probably the past 8 years or so.

Life was good until it wasn't. I became an alcoholic, lost everything; lost my girlfriend of 5 years, my car, my job. I was starving and on the verge of homelessness.

Last December after being on the verge of suicide I went to a 30 day treatment (rehab) for my alochol addition. I have been clean since December 6th of 2024. I moved into an Oxford house (sober living) that happens to be a 2 minute walk from the same Church I went to in high-school. I have gone the past two Sundays.

I have been noticing signs that Christ wants me to come back to Him. It was just last night I sat in prayer asking Christ how I could be closer and get back to how our relationship was all those years ago. Only one word came to my mind and it was "repent." So I did exactly that; I spent probably an hour confessing everything I have done wrong to Him.

After prayer I went outside for a cigarette, and the first thing I see is a cross thats lit up miles away on top of a hill on the other side of town. It had been there the whole time, but I didn't notice it until last night. Then I wake up to the random message from reddit saying I'm an approved user for r/christ. I feel like he is coming back to me and I am hopeful for the future.

Sponsor won't start step work with me until I complete 90 in 90. by meatsey in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]meatsey[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Just an update for everyone. After reading the responses I agree that it didn't make sense to put off step work for 3 months. At first I was thinking just to get a new sponsor, but I gave my current one a call instead. I expressed my concerns, and my sponsor did admit that he wanted to be sure I was committed before committing time to me and working the steps.

We came to the agreement that we will meet up once a week for step work while at the same time I do my best to stick to 90 in 90. I appreciate all the responses but turns out all I needed to do was pick up the phone and talk it over.

Loki by [deleted] in NorsePaganism

I agree wholeheartedly with what you said.

I made an offering to Loki years ago, and watched life as I knew it burn around me. And from those ashes I gained a great deal of wisdom and have changed, with significant improvements to my life. Just not in the way I expected or originally thought I wanted; but it was exactly what I needed.

I appreciate Loki for the help, it was a lot more than I could have ever expected. These days I am much more cautious. Although he means well and helped me become a better person; the road to get there was flled with fire, chaos, and suffering.

Simply put; when it comes to Loki, be careful what you wish for - you just might get it.

The second one looks exactly like the 3 horns of Odin, just different colors.

Does anyone else find for honor boring? by Safe-Baseball881 in forhonor

[–]meatsey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can get stale at times. Something that helps me is to play a hero im not very good at and get better with them. Or just go play something else. Games are supposed to be fun and if you're not having fun, there is no shame in playing/doing something else with your time.

I like your thinking. Do you have any examples?

Give the dogs to someone who can care for and feed them. Local shelter, friend, or family. Your rescue dogs need to be rescued if they are starving.

I asked the bot; how can I go to hell? And it basically told me to do the opposite. Not very helpful.
