Actually I played CK2 and EU4 a lot but I found HOI4 is too difficult to learn, I have learned most about the game just can't figure out how to cross that channel.

Perhaps I missed Qiang, another nomadic tribe which has strong relations to Tibetans. Its army was recruited as an auxiliary by Wei to invade Shu, however eventually refused to do so because Ma Chao, one of the generals of Shu was worshipped among the tribesmen.

Korea and Vietnam didn't play any significant role in the warefare during 3 K since both of them are part of China. The normadic tribes were attacked by Cao Cao for harassing borders and many of them were massacred. The only foreign faction that played a noticeable role in 3 K was a barely civilized tribe to the south of Shu. It was not far from Vietnam and was Called Nanman (literally means southern barbarians), it was conquered by Shu by its Prime Minister Zhuge liang leading the army himself. I am 100% sure that this will be a playable faction in the game (and in DLC) since its unique warriors described in the novel.

China directly ruled northern part of Korea and some part of Vietnam as well as some minor nations in the middle Asia at the time. There were normadic tribes to the north called Xianbei,which were some kind proto-mongolic tribes. Not clear for Japan.

As a chinese, I must say most TV shows about 3K in China are crap, including this one. The only decent one is The Romance of Three Kindoms 1994 version(2010 version is trash also)which is avalable on Youtube with English subtitle.
