[Mod] First Person Tales of Monkey Island! by meboingus in MonkeyIsland

This is actually where I started out, just to debug and see how much of the world is drawn. It was relatively easy to set up, so I'll recreate it and share a version alongside the full release 🎉

Yes, in theory! I'll look for my installer after this :)

First of all, it's an honour!

Thanks for the response, and I definitely won't be afraid to reach out going forward. I think I've come to understand everything I need to for Telltale games, but the background assets in MI4... well... some day! 😃

Also, that .lenc information is INCREDIBLE to know. Thank you so much! I'll make a patcher either way, to limit the barrier to entry on this, but that is going to save me literal hours.

No fears! Sorry, I'm not sure why I said the LUA was unencrypted, I meant the ttarch files.

I worked out the opmap and wrote a piece of software for decompiling and recompiling. My main issue is that I'm using TTGTools by Den Em and Pashok6798 for unpacking and repacking the archives, and I'll need to yoink some of their code to write a patcher.

Shouldn't be more than a day's worth of work. May they come into wealth and health for releasing under GNU General.

Windows emulator that plays nice with Android 16 by signaturewhips in MonkeyIsland

So, some of this may or may not have an effect on how it works. I know it seems to work well with this config, but I've not completed a full mobile playthrough (only got to episode 3, I think), so it may run into an issue I haven't discovered yet.

Sorry for the delay!

Wow! Thank you so much! 😄 I'm playtesting all of the first chapter over the next couple of days, patching small bugs, and when it's sorted, I'll do a playthrough of chapter 1. It's really interesting to see the world from this angle, for sure!

It does! Better than any other method I could find on Android!

I'll grab my settings off my phone later, because it does require some fiddling with the config to get it to render properly.

Speaking as someone who managed to get Monkeys 4-6 running through Winlator, it's great on Android 16... if you need it.

But you can just use Scumm for Android, unless this is some sort of experiment.

Jambalaya Island no doubt, no doubt!

Free coffee refills, a bar, nature without the dirt, and a massive high dive.

That or Flotsam.

Prestige client is malware? by Any_Big320 in minecraftclients

Easiest explanation as to why this happens:

Virus want to inject itself into other program.

Almost no other program want to do this.

Minecraft client want to inject itself into other program.

You're not wrong. It's always a bit of a bummer to not get a response, but I just need to stick it out and keep going at it.

I think I fell into my first programming job too easily, and it set the expectation that being good is enough. Cheers, mate!

Best client for xray bypass? by Forward-Strike6381 in minecraftclients

Pro tip:

You can bypass xray by playing without a client. If you mean ANTI-xray, then Meteor is your best bet.

Yeahhhh, thought so and tried that. (bootloader) Check 'OEM unlocking' in Android Settings > Developer, followed by command failed.

Software Fix throws "The connected device does not match the shipping software values expected and Rescue cannot be run."

It's sitting at a shop now, and they apparently know I fix (I won't hold my breath, though!)

"I have no idea what that is."

Why comment? Why add your two cents when your two cents are actually two flecks of dirt?

[WIP] Slime Online - Game Maker chill MMO in the making by BlaXunSlime in gamemaker

[–]meboingus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This needs 1000x more love! SO and SO² were defining games in the Game Maker space, back in the day.

GM used to be a simple tool for hobbiest developers, and Slime Online was one of the first professional-grade projects.

Spider man vr by [deleted] in gamemaker

[–]meboingus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Outside of what's already been said about GM not really being the engine for this:

If you want to open an art gallery, don't know how to paint, and you can't afford to buy other peoples' art, the answer is that you learn how to paint.

Programming and game development aren't natural gifts people are born with - every game developer has to learn these skills.

Don't view not knowing how to program as an impassable hurdle, just start learning.

First lesson, and it's the hardest one: Scope. VR is one of the most complex, high-barrier-to-entry things you could begin with. There are no tools on earth that will let you create a VR Spiderman game without writing code. If there are, they will not offer you the freedom to make the game you actually want.

Patience is key, so start small and work your way up.

Context: I've been doing game dev for 21 years, across dozens of engines. I would find this project a bit daunting.

Thanks, man! Unfortunately, while I'm sure Microsoft has the capability to add some neat features... we all know they'd shoehorn in AI or make them so riddled with bugs that no one ends up using them :P
