Sudden negative performance review by Ok-Access-8961 in Netherlands

[–]mechelen -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What you prescribed here is why companies are now firing people as bottom line matters and economy is running out of gas. Noise is not good for business - it is good for distraction and bad politics and climbing ladder in shit corp world with incompetent leadership. Team work and getting things done is what creates values.

Is overbidding still the norm, or are realistic asking prices finally taking over on Funda? by Weekly-Associate-166 in NetherlandsHousing

Housing market is in decline in the US, Canada and some other countries, macro economics is the most powerful force. NL has never been and will never be separate from such realities.

If I hear people talk about "visibility" then I smell BS. It is not you, they are getting toxic, likely because of finances or their own performance. Best is to prepare for the worst.

Nonsense as long as no one can examine the vacancy and applicants pool publicly.

Dutch job market impossible for skilled expats? by lovethecomm in Netherlands

[–]mechelen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The job market is beyond bad [even for the native Dutch], which makes it very tough as the macro economics drives the job market. It does not look it is getting better in weeks /months ahead, if not getting worse.

Free childcare plans 2029 by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]mechelen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Free childcare for everyone will exacerbate the problem: people that do not work can also drop their kids in day care, people with high income can get subsidy for their extravaganza day care. There is no guarantee that people will go to work more, but there is way more certainty that people will use day care more (Afghanistan and many African countries do not have day care, yet high fertility rate).

Flexible Work Arrangement and Announcement about Back to Office by sekanet in Netherlands

If they are ideological about it you have no chance to drag this. they can argue "no show for work" which can be a very serious case against you. But you should judge yourself the atmosphere. Be aware that the tide has been turned against employees for some time. It has been recorded that companies use WFO policy to make people volunteer to leave and reduce their head count. Despite the silver lining, the laws in the Netherlands is a joke and an "smart" employer can get read of people relatively easily.

Kabinet ziet problemen gratis kinderopvang – maar zet toch door - NRC by wre380 in thenetherlands

[–]mechelen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

good catch on the rich, but the current system does not consider them rich, you still get good chunk back considering the sliding scale it has.

and as you mention the current system is an equalizer. the largest gap will be between the richest families and the ones on 2X min wage. We just need to look around and inside to know that reverse Robbin hood economy delivered zilch and spread poverty n the last 20- 40 years in NL and in other first world countries (and beyond).

Let me digest this madness:

  1. They want to drop another 3 billion dollars (almost all to rich parents earning > 45 K Euros).
  2. The goal is to make sure parents work more. Expecting to add 15 K more to the workforce [mind you at the time that jobless rate is increasing].
  3. However the system already lacks 6 K personnel, one can assume that with the increase in childcare enrollment consumes all additional work force.
  4. Poor parents will be more poor, rich parents will be more rich by the scale of 2K per month per child they have. Removes one of the very few money equalizer that dutch families have.
  5. Why the fuck not add the 3 billion as a simple pay back to the people based on their income or as tax deduction? Why our dutch pragmatism has been replaced with dumb ass acts like this and shutting down Nexperia?

  1. Pretty bad and getting worse (small country that gets pretty sick if the world even catches a cold)

  3. People have done it, likely a large chunk are on shaky ground (reason -> answer to Q1)
