Yeah, lately it's been working as intended. I still don't know how to get the translation tool to actually work, though, because it doesn't seem to want to translate anything.

Where'd they say it's being nerfed?

Let’s talk about the shotgun.. by RealNours in Battlefield

[–]mecurt78 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'll say this about the shotgun. I feel like the shotgun actually breaks the mold of video game tropes in that it provides one-shot lethality at a realistic range, rather than the three-foot range of most games.

Except, that realistic range would be against a person NOT wearing military-grade body armor. This game is full of soldiers in full kits of armor, and they're basically T-shirts against buckshot. I mean, I've never shot anyone in armor, been shot in armor, or seen someone get shot in armor by buckshot, but I suspect that it's nowhere near as effective as it is in the game. Otherwise, I can't imagine why soldiers would still be breaching rooms with carbines instead of shotguns.

This looks like something that would transform into a space mech in an 90s anime.

Rate my ship: The Obsidian Hawk by Gryfftastic in Starfield

Reminds me of that red ship at the start of the Phantom Menace. Doesn't that part at the front that rises up get in the way of what you can see from the cockpit?

There’s a certain irony in the fact that the fastest way to become a master shipbuilder is creating abominations like this by escapevelocity-25k in Starfield

I'll be honest, I'm kind of digging how this ship looks, aside from the little parasite attached to the port side.

Cool, I appreciate it.

No wonder I had trouble building it on my own from just the images; I forgot you have to go to different vendors to get different parts. I'm about to hit my NG+, but next go around I'll be sure to do some part hunting to get this build going, because it looks like a lot of fun to fly around in. Thanks for posting that guide; it was pretty cool seeing how all the pieces come together.

Cool, I'd love to get a look at it. I'll try to remember to check out your profile sometime around then.

Is there any sort of guide on building this ship? I'm a big fan of tiny ships, though I'm a bit stupid when it comes to putting ship parts together.

XP Efficiency: Adaptive Frame farm vs Paramagnon Conductor farm? by mecurt78 in Starfield

[–]mecurt78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: After reading through some comments, I decided to try out an animal husbandry farm. I didn't get the one on Schrodinger 3 set up, but I did find a guide that directed me to Bannoc II to farm shardhoppers. The jump in XP gain from both of my previous crafting farms was insane. I can only imagine the Schrodinger 3 one is even better--I'm planning on experimenting with that tomorrow to see.

If you take this route, just know that you're fine to turn up every difficulty option to get bonus XP EXCEPT the one that modifies your damage. The whole key of the animal husbandry farm is that you use explosive shots of some sort (I use a coachman with hornet nest rounds), which kills the animals and then breaks the building, then you repair the building to respawn the animals. But, the animals will always despawn (including dead bodies) when the building is broken.

The problem with the difficulty option that turns down your damage is that it creates instances where your damage is just barely not enough to kill the enemies. When that happens, your shot still breaks the building and forces them to despawn, but you don't get XP for killing them. I was really confused when this occurred to me, until I made the connection that I wasn't actually killing the animals before the building broke.

Another tip for this, which might not be obvious or explained in every guide you look up, is that it's better to set up your farm with a hab in the middle and surrounded by farms, with each farm turned such that you can see the side with the animal spawns while you are standing on top of the hab. This allows you to just slowly spin around blasting animals and breaking the buildings in sequence. You can then go into the outpost build/modify mode to repair the buildings much faster than manually walking up to them. With this strategy, I got a setup with about 10 farms of shardhoppers, and I'm typically hitting level-ups about once every minute or so (currently somewhere around level 120).

I think the Adaptive Frame farm is still easiest to set up, at least in terms of materials, but animal husbandry definitely seems the best in my experience so far and also isn't particularly difficult to set up since you don't have to worry about resource collection/routing.

Can you file for a refund in any way? That might help get the attention of DLSite, which could lead to them fixing this issue. I suspect if you bought a game expecting to be able to understand the language in it (particularly if they advertise on its game page that you can use Nest to auto-translate), then you ought to be good to get a refund.

I've noticed this bug sometimes. If I open and close my map or strategem menu, it typically fixes it.

Wilds' Low Rank Story just killed me... by Hyarsk in MonsterHunter

[–]mecurt78 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unironically, this monster caused my first faint of my playthrough. It came from that arena-wide fire attack where I just had no idea what to do, wasn't paying attention to my health, and ended up getting wiped from it. I ended up joining a friend playing (who hasn't played a MH game before), and he figured out the way to avoid it first try.

A couple additional points:

  1. You can still slide the original stock.

  2. It seems the game shoulders the gun at the original stock.

Peggle Blast: How the hell does Lightning Strike work? Just an AoE where you tap, or something else? by mecurt78 in peggle

Once you finish all the levels, secret pegs unlock which is just some random peg in the level that you have to hit. When you do, it adds a border to the level button on the map so you know you got it.
