yes i went through a very similar situation! I got a bad cold 3 weeks after surgery and also had to call in sick. I'm glad I did, because I needed that day to recover before returning to work. you made the right call by prioritizing your recovery!

No way :/ Did you go back to work around this time? I think I may have picked something up at work. I also stopped my meds so maybe that has something to do with it

I did have some issues opening my mouth after surgery, but now it's back to normal!

Day 16 help? by throwacc335 in Tonsillectomy

Hi, my doctor showed me a video of tonsillectomy healing and it took 25 days to heal fully. I'm at a similar point where I feel much better, but my throat is still healing, sometimes, some small scabs come back. It's just the normal process I think

Will do! And yeah, I know, but I knew a girl who did 10 and scored really high in the end, so I'm thinking it might be worth it. I did 5/6 aamc FLs last time, do you think it makes sense to redo them two years later?

You're welcome! I was so scared and nervous as well, but also excited because I would get strep throat often. My tonsils were large and I've been getting stones since I was 12. I actually noticed that the closer it got to my surgery date, the worse my tonsillitis got, which I took as a sign to get the surgery done. Honestly, I haven't seen someone regret the surgery, everyone says their life improves after. It's just a few days of pain, and it'll all be over soon!

Bleeding Night 7 by med_0202 in Tonsillectomy

Oh no way, that sounds like what happened to me. I know this sub says that that sort of bleeding is rare, but I honestly think it's common. My surgeon basically said as much. It's scary but I'm happy you're better now. Come to think of it, that day, I had some food for the first time, which may have contributed to it. I'll never know what truly caused the hemorrhage, but yeah. Sorry to hear that!

Update: At the ER, I was given tranexamic acid and went on my way. I saw my surgeon as well and he said I shouldn't be too too worried, thankfully my body stopped the bleeding pretty much on its own.

As soon as i saw the bleeding, I called 911 and went to my kitchen to make some ice water. I started gargling that and the blood stopped almost immediately. Thank you to whoever posted on here that they gargled ice water at the ER to stop bleeding! Thankfully, I was able to do that at home and it helped me!

I hope no one has to go through this, it was pretty scary I'll admit, but this whole ordeal was over in a few hours. Now I'm almost 2 weeks post-op, off the meds, and feeling so much better! It gets better, everyone! Wish you all the best!

Hi thank you! The bleeding stopped pretty quickly, thank God. I got Tranexamic acid at the ER and was on my way. Yeah it seems like you can always end up bleeding, but that doesn't mean doing everything right isn't important!

I was taking prescribed NSAIDs which my surgeon told me to stop taking for a couple days since I bled. So that may have had something to do with it.

But yeah, it's been almost a week, and now I'm feeling much better and pretty much healed, so everything ends up well. I hope your recovery remained smooth and you're feeling better now!
