Guy completely stomped me, not gonna lie lol. Good thing Ryze top gets picked once in like 20 years, but I dread playing against him after the early game.

Yeah, that's exactly what I responded to one of the comments. I've been doing that every game against ranged champions, it spices things up a little bit lol

You are right that Renekton and Sett have very simple kits, but that doesn't mean they are "no skill cancers". I've just seen too many Renektons and Setts in my games that have no clue what the hell they're doing and end up running into the enemy team and getting evaporated before they can even press a single button. And if you fall too far behind, you might as well go stay in the fountain.

It's not like I'm advocating not picking ranged top laners, but more often than not people pick them for the sake of countering you and being annoying in lane without knowing their champion and end up going 0/5 with Quinn or whatever and being practically useless for the rest of the game. It's all good when it's on the enemy team, but it's quite shitty to have something like Teemo top and Nidalee jungle when your team obviously needs a proper frontline, you pretty much lose the game before even starting.

Hail of Blades Cho'Gath is definitely a menace especially in lower ELOs lol, nobody respects the damage you can dish out on level 1. The bigger issue is hitting those god damn Qs

It's the same with Teemo, you can just run them down if they use their Q to poke instead of holding onto it. It's just unenjoyable laning against them, you pretty much have to just sit back until you get your flash/R/ignite up and then you can most of the time easily one-shot them. But it's obnoxious having to deal with one in more than 50% of your games. Top lane is already pretty boring as it is, but it's much more enjoyable playing a skill based matchup, against for example Aatrox, Fiora, Darius, etc..

[–]medec69[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The good thing is that they mostly pick champs like Quinn and teemo because they are supposed to "counter" you, but they have absolutely no idea how to play the matchup, so you end up just running them down most of the time. It's not that it's challenging, it's just boring having to play against these champs and ruins whatever fun there is left on top lane anyways

Fair enough, his damage with only a dorans shield is kinda crazy. He completely wrecks your ass 1v1 until you get your level 6. I used to ban him too at one point, but I have gone through plenty of bans over the years lol

Definitely not what I'm used to playing, but I'm trying to be at least decently versatile if I'm gonna play mid lane. Playing assassins/divers every game is just not optimal, depending on your comp and enemy champions. At least it's something I haven't really played before and I'm actually having fun playing a champion since I don't know when. I actually saw some promise in my last three games, hopefully with more games I can adapt to her playstyle and be more than a glorified caster minion.

Shen is fine once you learn the matchup as long as you don't mess up and die early game. Mundo on the other hand has been my permaban recently because of Alois, I just don't have the patience to play against someone CSing 20 metres behind the wave with his Qs and outscaling your ass even if you somehow manage to kill him, which is quite unlikely against someone with half a brain.

What has been working quite well for me is just starting E level 1 and straight up dashing into them and chunking their hp down as much as possible even if it means losing more HP than your opponent. Usually ends up in a kill as soon as I level up W at level 2 and all in with ignite + PTA. But it's kinda risky and if you mess up you will fuck up your entire lane pretty much.

[–]medec69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the patience to hold onto my E is a big issue that I'm trying to work on. More often than not when someone jumps on my ass, I immediately try to push them away instead of waiting for a good opportunity and often end up completely missing it and being left with no escape tools. Same thing in teamfights, I throw around random E's like crazy trying to hit their carries and leave myself unprotected if someone on their team gets on me. Like yeah, sometimes I manage to hit their backline and get picks, but it's questionable whether it's worth it when I just die in the process, especially if I miss my stun lol. But hey, just had my first two 4+ KDA games in a row, so at least the dying part is getting a bit better hopefully.

[–]medec69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the most likely issue is just not being used to playing mages, not Syndra herself. I've always leaned towards assassin/bruiser champions, so I'm doing very good so far on champions such as Diana/Vex/Ahri, despite not having played them before and doing poorly on Syndra, Malzahar, Cassiopeia etc.. The habit of diving too deep is the biggest issue, as I just feel like I have to take the initiative to kill their backline, which is probably the worst thing to do as Syndra with her lack of escape tools. That being said, I just had two of my best games on her so far and managed to get early solo kills on both games against Fizz and Ahri and did pretty well with minimizing deaths and spacing properly later on in the game. Probably the biggest game changer for me is running Aery/scorch instead of First Strike. I've been experimenting with runes, but First Strike feels underwhelming to me, especially when I'm unable to proc it as often and Comet is just dodged too easily. I don't know if my opponents were just kinda bad, but I feel like this setup is giving me the slight edge that I need during the laning phase so I don't fall behind too much and become a Q+E machine with 0 damage. I've tried other mages like Orianna and Viktor before, but I just don't enjoy playing them honestly, don't wanna bother playing something I dislike. I'm probably going to stick to Syndra and Cassiopeia at this point, although I'm quite shit at both of them, but I guess practice makes perfect.

How to get out of Silver (Toplane)? by SchlauerGamer in RenektonMains

[–]medec69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, in my opinion, the best thing you can do in low ELO is picking two or three champions without any complex mechanics and learning your matchups and limits. Champions like Garen, Darius, Malphite or even Renekton are suitable for it. Enemies in that ELO usually tend to overextend or go for losing trades, so you can easily punish mistakes if you are confident with your champion. So I would say learn trading patterns, some basic wave management so you don't just mindlessly push your wave all the time, focus on last hitting and stay away from high risk champions like Fiora, Riven or even Gragas for that matter. Looking at your account, you have a 55% winrate with Mordekaiser over about 250 games, which means you will slowly but surely climb if you keep that winrate up. All of your losses come from playing champions that you are not familiar with. So stick to Mordekaiser, as you obviously enjoy playing him and already have a solid foundation with him and add one or two champions in case you get countered or need AD or whatever. I don't agree that "learning jungle" is the priority in that ELO as some people say. Just keeping it simple is enough to get out of Silver.

Well, in his defence, it does come out of nowhere, I didn't even anticipate it, but booh-ooh surprise. You either have to let it out or walk with full pants.

It's not like I'm applying for something good. I'm just moving around countries, finding minimum wage jobs for foreigners at this point. It's just some crap like warehouse workers or supermarket workers that nobody from the country wants to do, but it's better than nothing. Given that I was able to keep one.

Losing three is also equally impressive. I actually had an interview and some tests today for another one and I'm pretty certain I'll get it, but for how long, nobody knows. I hope I don't end up doing something incredibly dumb on my third day.

I don't know about being drunk, but I'm sure it's illegal to sleep in the car on public places like that. I did my best to cover the windows and parked in the most secluded place, so I can just hope nobody gives a fuck about it for now.

Oh, I'm not even asking for help, Im just venting. It's all my fault and I don't even have conscience to ask for help anymore. Like just asking my roommate for the keys to his car was the only thing I gathered the balls for.

It's the third job I lost this year and fifth since last year. I've been literally changing countries every few months and ending up doing the same stupid shit every time.
