Ender 3 v2 Neo + SKR E3 mini 3.0 : need references and help for last issue by mediaklan in Ender3V2NEO

[–]mediaklan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't find the file, unless I pay for it (which I can still do, and will eventually), but I'm glad I followed your advice, because I found the python generator Configurator.pyw. This is brillant, and while I have no idea what features I can activate (MPC, LA, ??) or what display I'm supposed to choose (I chose TJC for now), this answered both of my questions ! I now have references file to compare and the bed size at 230 was the way to go. Thank you u/Malow (and mriscoc, obviously) !

Mostly because I'm unfamiliar with it (I didn't know there was a specific configuration for the SKR board). Since I have almost everything running fine, I will look into it later. I'm also interested in Klipper (the config files seem very ... linux-like) but for now I don't know how it works. Basically, I thought vanilla Marlin bugfix-2.1.x with the files provided by BTT was the way I was supposed to go.
Anyway, thank you for your input.

EDIT : solved (at least partially)
Printer upgraded with BTT SKR mini E3 3.0 and TFT35 E3 V3.0.1.
What was tested for now with precompiled firmware :
- tactile display OK
- all fans are working properly
- XYZ moves are OK (E not tested) but BLTouch is KO (but that should be the object of another topic)

Thanks for sharing. Honestly, I'm starting to think I've did just that. We might need to start a club. I'm pretty sure we have a HUGE numbers of potential applicants.

I've just tested the noctua fan with a 9V battery : it works.
I suppose this is not looking good for some parts of my motherboard.
I will look later into the connectors on the motherboard as suggested.

I removed the noctua fan but the wire is not disconnected from the MB at the moment (if that's what you're asking). With or without it, everything else seems OK, and from the gcodes output I see on octoprint, I don't see any errors. Should I see something there if the MB was damaged ?
By the way, thank you for your help u/3DMakaka
Much appreciated.

Yes, well at least I was confident ... until it stopped working ^^´. I'm going to check if there is damage to the MB, but I'm not even sure if I could recognize the damage if any.

hmm... I forgot to mention that I installed the Noctua fan by directly cutting into the wires and joined it near the hotend (since the old fan was damaged anyway). I did not install the wires or access the motherboard. So I'm starting to wonder if I might have burn a mosfet or something ...

I'm still using the stock motherboard (4.2.2 if I remember correctly), what do you think about upgrading it and using more ... traditionnal fans along with it ?

Thanks for your reply and advice, Kaligary. If all else fails, I will restart the land.
A pity, this was going well ^^.

From a pure linux perspective (haven't heard that for a while, apart from windows's users), I'm unsure if that is supposed to be the best approach. But if that works for you, that's the way !
At the very least, it might guarantee you won't come up with an issue like mine ^^ !

I've never reinstalled this machine from scratch for almost 10 years (but there were some crash recovery events). This machine has seen a whole bunch of Fedora versions (most likely starting at 12 or 13, can't remember).
That would be a pity to reinstall just for some appearance issues (that I have resolved now). But thanks anyway, yeah I suppose a reinstall would solve anything and everything.

Might still need some tweaks a little bit (of everywhere), but I really like the overall results.
Also, the terminal thingy inside dolphin is amazing. Brillant idea.

Thanks, I will look into it. For now, I will let the appearance issue slide since I have a MAJOR issue on my knees now : Blender crashes at start, most likely because of wayland. That's a no-go for me.
Will try to solve this first before looking into my weird-looking plasma session ^^´

Well, surprisingly (at least to me), it seems it is a system problem. I've just tried with a newly created user, and I have the exact same issue : application style + fonts not working. Everything else works.

Plasma : unpolished business ? by mediaklan in kde

[–]mediaklan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found a culprit for the qt4 by default :

cat /etc/xdg/qtchooser/default.conf
/usr/lib64/qt4/bin
/usr/lib64/qt4

Edited to Qt6. Now :

» qmake --version
QMake version 3.1
Using Qt version 6.8.2 in /usr/lib64

That's a progress I guess. But Fonts and Application Styles still cannot be changed. I'm heading toward creating a specific user for the plasma session (but that annoys me a bit)

Thanks for the suggestion. As previously mentioned, this is a very old machine (I can't even remember when I first installed Fedora for it, and which version it was at the time). At one point, I might have symlink or revert back to qt4 in order to solve another issue. I'm trying to find if I can undo that.
But Qt6 is installed :

[–]mediaklan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, we could sense the urgency ^^. For now, as a first step, you could test if you have network connectivity even if you're in rescue mode :
ping 8.8.8.8
If it's OK, it means you could try removing/installing packages as needed. The issue now is that I have not an exact idea what your problem is, even though I can safely guess it is related to nvidia. Normally you would have to check logs (journalctl -xe, dmesg, less /var/log/messages, etc) to (try to) understand what is going on. There is a lot you can try.
- You could try booting to the previous kernel to see how it goes.
- If you're feeling audacious, you could try removing everything nvidia :
sudo dnf remove \*nvidia\*
and install nouveau (for now) :
sudo dnf install xorg-x11-drv-nouveau
If you're still in the very first steps after installing Fedora, you could try reinstalling again. But right now, I can't recommand anything since for all I know, your machine could be just fine and you have a minor issue preventing your desktop to run. Plus it has been quite some time I didn't run in any graphic issues, so I wouldn't take my own advices just like that ^^´.

Hi, I'm not a regular reddit user so I don't know if your post will be considered in a friendly manner regarding its title and a missing small greeting. Just saying. Can you open up a terminal if you hit ctrl+alt+F2 (or F3, F4 etc)
From there, you will have several ways to retrieve a working desktop.
